From The Humpherys Family
February 15,2011
Nevada City, California
Thank you Laurie and C.J. for this year’s Humpherys Herald Family Newsletter!
The following are some good memories we had together in 2010—In July, we drove to Uncle Ray and Aunt Becky’s home, spent the night, Sunday night, July 11. The next day, Trevor, Damien, and Newell went to Seven Peaks in Provo, while Sally went shopping. Then we picked Camille up at her apartment in Orem, then we drove to West Yellowstone Lodge, where we stayed for the night. On Tuesday, we went swimming 15 miles in to the entrance of West Yellowstone, then we met C.J., Laurie, Mercy, Porter, and Jameson at the Geyser Grill where we had dinner. Then we went to Yellowstone Lodge in West Yellowstone where we all stayed for the night. On Wednesday, July 14, ( Newell and Sally’s Wedding Anniversary—which we both forgot--), we all drove to Old Faithful, and other mini geysers, and lakes, and then we drove to Colter Bay Campground, where we all spent the night at a nice campsite. The next morning, we all drove on to beautiful Greys River where we enjoyed an awesome reunion with all the extended family. The food was amazingly delicious—all the dutch oven meals, etc!! Thank you to Uncle Kenny for all the horse rides and to all who let us ride the four wheelers. Good memories around the campfire. Greys River will always be a favorite memory.
Thank you Nadean, Jim and Family, and Carol and family for organizing such a nice reunion. C.J. won the prize for catching the biggest fish, and Trevor caught the second biggest fish. Trevor and Damien had a lot of fun hanging out with all the cousins. Saturday night, we stayed the night at Aunt Florence and Uncle Larry’s home, before the long trip back to California. Thank you Florence and Larry for the nice beds and showers, before we headed out to finish our trip! Sunday night we (including Camille) arrived back home in California.
C.J. and Laurie and family arrived here in California the next night (Monday) to begin our own Family Reunion. On Tuesday and Wednesday we had fun camping and boating and tubing and wakeboarding and wakeskating at Scott’s Flat Lake. On Thursday, we packed up, came home and relaxed. Friday, I worked while everyone else went to the river. Next day, Saturday, I worked while everyone else went to Lake Tahoe area, and floated down the Truckee River. Sunday—July 25, I took Camille to the Reno Airport to fly back to Utah where she had to work after taking two weeks off. Monday and Tuesday, we had a nice visit with C.J. and Laurie and family before they had to leave for Arizona. So, from July 11 to almost the end of the month, we enjoyed our extended family and our own immediate family reunions. It was good to spend time with Camille, C.J. , Laurie, and the precious grandchildren, Mercy, Porter, and Jameson. We are looking forward to our fourth grandchild in March 2011!
Camille has continued to work several jobs—Personal Trainer, working at Sundance Ski Resort, and Heritage in Orem. As of January 1, 2011 she is working full time at Heritage. Camille also performs gigs as a Singer, and also as a Ventriloquist. We are so grateful for her and we are grateful that she has been blessed in so many ways.
C.J. still works for the Border Patrol in Naco, Arizona. He says he still loves his job. C.J. and Laurie are wonderful parents and we are so thankful that they are such a good Dad and Mom and have such sweet children.
Trevor is the Vice President in the 8th Grade at Seven Hills School, and Damien is in the 6th Grade, also at Seven Hills School.
Trevor was the quarterback for his 8th grade football team. He is quite a good passer. This year in school, he won first place in the High Jump in the Northern California Finals Competition.
He is the starting point guard, and the leading scorer for his 8th grade basketball team. His coach refers to Trevor as “the best player in the league”.
Damien is getting really good in Soccer. This year he made the All Star Soccer Team. He played both baseball and soccer this year and he is getting good at both sports. Damien takes a bicycle repair class and is really good at repairing bikes. Damien is really getting to be very good at wakeboarding.
Both Trevor and Damien are taking personal training classes from a Basketball Trainer in the area, Dave Garcia, which has really helped improve their basketball skills.
Damien still plays the guitar, and Trevor still plays the recorder. Damien is really getting good at playing the guitar. Trevor was just called to be the Piano Player for Priesthood Meeting.
Newell still enjoys being the Public Address Announcer for the Nevada Union Boys Varsity Basketball games. This is his 17th year. He is still teaching early morning Seminary. This is his 14th or 15th (something like that) year teaching Seminary. This year, the subject is Church History and Doctrine and Covenants.
Sally still teaches part time for the High School District. She personally helps students on an individual basis. She helps each student get his/her diploma through a combination of home study, online classes, college classes and high school classes. She is an awesome teacher, and goes the extra mile with each student. She also spend hours each week helping Trevor and Damien with their homework. Sally blesses all our lives in so many ways, for which we are so grateful.
Sally enjoys her calling as Ward Choir Director. Sally still works with the young women to help them with their personal progress. Sally still ski’s occasionally when she takes Damien and Trevor snowboarding. Also, Sally still runs 3-4 times per week about 5 miles per session.
Each year goes by too fast. We continue to be grateful for each and every blessing we have been given from our Father in Heaven.
We are so thankful for our extended family and we pray for God’s blessings to be with each and every one of you. We are so thankful for family reunions, which gives us a chance to keep in touch with each other. We are also thankful to have an annual family newsletter to read about what everyone is doing in their lives.
We are looking forward to another great reunion this summer here in California!! We know it is a long way to travel for many of you. We will be grateful for whoever is able to make it, and we hope it will be a wonderful memory for all! I’m sure Grandpa Dean and Grandma Neva continue to smile upon all of us, as we are all so grateful for them and for how they have blessed each and every one of our lives!
WITH LOVE FROM NEWELL,SALLY, TREVOR, AND DAMIEN HUMPHERYS
