22 YEARS OF THE HUMPHERYS
HERALD FAMILY NEWS...

Nadean 2011

My Dear Family,

Another year has come and gone. You think there’s nothing new in your life but as you try to recall a whole year’s happenings there really has been a lot going on in all of our lives.

My greatest blessing is having Logan and Jase out in the mission field. I am so grateful for the inspiration they are to me. Just writing to them, makes me want to live a better live. Logan is in Amarillo and Jase is in NE Albuquerque. They are very strong in spirit missionaries. I’m sure their parents will tell you more about them. Time is going so fast. They’ll be home before we know it.
Katie is coming down to see me this weekend. She is such a sweet and fun girl. She says, “Now Grams, don’t do any cleaning, I’ll do it all when I get there.” Heavens, I couldn’t let her do all that.. Everyone living her is so old. I don’t even think about it until my 19 year old granddaughter is coming.
It’s been a busy year down here. I am the Single’s leader. It is quite involved and takes time. I do enjoy it however. We have put on two big shin digs this year. One at Christmas and a Mexican Fiesta the last part of January.
We have chorus three times a week. I am in charge of getting all the words for the music we sing run off and passed out to the members. We sing some of the songs of mother and dad’s generation. We put on about four programs a year. One big one in February. Called Hee Haw. I do enjoy singing the songs mother sang to us when we lived in the old house. Today we were learning Easter Parade.
Years ago when Dad was in charge of the Easter Program he insisted that we sing this song. It was a popular song not a hymn but he wanted it sung. Him, being the Superintendent of the Sunday School.. he won out and that fun song was sung.
I guess my gardening days are all but over. However, I do have currants, raspberries, rhubarb and strawberries growing in the garden. If I can just keep the weeds from strangling the plants, I might see fit to water them.
Last years reunion up at Newell and Sally’s was a very nice event. They opened their arms and all the energies they could muster and showed us a royal good time. Their country is beautiful and I enjoyed being there once again. Newell had been very sick before we got there but on the second day he miracously got better and drove the boat the entire day for all the fun actives they had planned. Canoeing, kayaking, water skiing, and swimming was enjoyed by many. This old lady had to sit and watch but that was fun also. Thanks so much Newell and family for such a great time.
October saw me and a school teacher friend of mine off on a on a Bryan Judd Tour. We went to New York “Boston, Portland and Bar Harbor, Maine. After that we headed for Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, Canada. The U.S. cities had on my bucket list for years. The Canadian visit was frosting on the cake. Every place we stopped had something wonderful to see. Too numerous to mention. A cute little town in Canada with houses all painted in pastel colors and adorable landscaping stands out in my mind. Also, the Metropolitan Museum; of Art in New York was outstanding.. The page is ending and so am I. My love to all of you.. especially, Sophia, Sawyer and Stockton. Hope to see you all at the reunion Love, Nadean

Jim & Stacy 2011

Hereford, Texas has been Logan’s home for the past 5 months! He is having great success
as a missionary, he loves it and we couldn’t be more proud! One more year to go!!!
UVU is where Katie is attending college. She is studying Social Work, lives in Provo, has
a lot of friends & has tons of fun, but still gets good grades! We are so proud of her!
May 2011 we took the girls to Orlando and spent 6 days going on thrilling, head-
spinning rides and pounding the pavement of Universal Studios & Disneyworld!
Performing at the Statue of Liberty was one of Rilee’s highlights of the year! Her dance
company got to travel to New York in June! She was awesome & we are so proud of her.
H ome now only holds 3 Cassell family members! It can get a little boring and Rilee does
not love being the only child…Jim & Stacy wonder where all the time went???
Every week Jim still flies to Denver for work! But it can have its advantages…last week he
asked actor James Marsden (Enchanted), if he was ‘Anyone important he should know?’
Rilee and Stacy started taking piano lessons this year and have been enjoying playing on
            Grandma Neva’s old piano!
YPride (as in BYU) was abundant when Jim got to fly on a private jet with Jimmer
Fredette to the BYU/Oregon State Game in Corvallis this past season!
Sums up our year in the Cassell Household! We have been blessed and are so grateful
for our family and for all of you! We hope to see ya’ll this summer at the Reunion!

Love Jim, Stacy, Logan, Katie & Rilee

Carol & Blair 2011

BLAIR

Blair started a new job with "LIDS" which brings new adventure as he travels now throughout the USA.  He is now selling Nike products just for a national company so his clientele has grown a lot.  Being away from home is sometimes difficult but he enjoys the opportunity to learn new things and seeing new places.  Staying in very nice hotels and occasionally being able to take Carol along is an added bonus.  However, it is a stressful position and he looks forward to the time when things will slow down a bit and he can spend more tiime at home.  With spring brings lots of yard work and my "Honey Do" projects for him to work on .  J

CAROL
I am still working for Intermountain Healthcare and look forward to getting away with Blair for a trip to St. George from time to time when his work assignment sends him there.  Sleeping in and hanging out at the pool while Blair works and spending evening time with him is the BEST!  Also spending time with mom!  She is so nice and takes care of Bailey while I enjoy a hotel with Blair.  At home I continue to walk the dogs, write emails to Jase and enjoy the soon to be spring weather which will bring planting flowers and other outdoor activities.  Will be checking out the New City Creek mall!  Soooo EXCITED!

JOSH

Josh just received another promotion at work and works 12-24 hours a day 5-6 days a week.  Meanwhile, he is saving lots of money and looks forward to buying his own condo within the next year.  We are so proud of his hard work and love seeing him succeed.  We love him!

JASE

It's hard to believe he has been out for 10 months now.  He loves Albuquerque, New Mexico and has been transferred 4 times.  He loves being a missionary and, as always, helping people!  We look forward to his emails each week and seeing the growth he is making while away serving the people of New Mexico.  We are so proud of him!  We look forward to talking to him on Mothers day.

We love you all and we look forward to seeing you all this summer!

Love,

The Lancaster's and Bailey and JoJo

(This is an email from Jase to Carol)

Dear Mom,

Hello- I'm really glad that your letter was short and it was sweet.  I just want to tell ya that I'm grateful for you, and always will be.  (This letter is for dad too.)  I have had a good week, I really am working and doing pretty good.  We saw Richard a couple times this week and that was good.  he's going through some pretty major changes in his life, and needs someone to talk with.  I'm really excited to get to know him more.  We helped him do his spring cleaning, just a little, by pulling the weeks in his rocks that are by the road.  I helped Clark Edwards do the same thing, if you remember.  I think everything will go well there with Richard.

I'm going to write you this week.  All is well, I've just been thinking a lot.  I think tha tthe church is such a great thing, like Logan I'm very happy to be a missionary and thank you for paying for this, and supporting me so much.  I love you really truly.  It's the best ever.  Hahaha.  I'm really glad that its Pday, before they werent' all that fun, but now I'm really enjoying this one.  It's because I couldn't sleep, so I just thought about what I'd buy at the store, and how I'd get to play basketball.  So it's going really smooth.

I just want to let you know that I have a testimony, that Jesus is the Christ, that he came lived and died for us, that he loves us, and that this is His Church once again on the earth.  I'm grateful for his gospel, and know that it's true. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God.  I'm grateful fo the prophets and apostles, and all the leaders of the church for their service.  I know that I have a strong faith J I love my family.  In the name of Jesus Christ.

Your son, Elder Lancaster

Still getting out fishing , and walking every day. Life is good.

We send you our best and looking forward to the reunion

Hi Family,

I am running late this year so I will make it short and sweet.  Big year, I got engaged to Bryan Maas, fellow horse crazy, antique crazy guy who manages to put up with me, got married on September 3rd, remodeled a beautiful old farm house, built a new barn, acquired lots more horses, moved to Parkston, became a Grandmother of the cutest twin babies on the face of the earth, fell in love with above babies, drove another 55,000 miles working in the same position as before, working very hard at keeping my sanity.  Other than that, nothing much new.
Here’s what I am learning: God wants us to spend the second half of our lives worrying less about what we do and more about who we become.

Mom and Bob were here the week of Feb 12th.  It was so wonderful to have them here.  We took 4 generation pictures and spent time oogling over the cutest twin babies (Sawyer and Sophia) on the face of the earth…see above notation.  Mandy and Chris are amazing parents and I am very thankful and proud of both of them.  The time with Mom and Bob went far too fast, but we are looking forward to a trip to Wyoming this summer.  Bryan has never seen this part of Wyoming.  I can’t wait to share it with him.  Hope to get to see many of you then.  Unfortunately it will not be during the family reunion.  We need to come when I have time off from work.

So I’m going to get this off so I can look forward to reading your letters.

Much love to each of you.  I’m very grateful for our heritage.

Kim Maas

Dear Wonderful Family,

Well, this has been a FANTASTIC year!  I will just cut to the chase since this is about the only thing I am writing about!:)  We have added four feet to our family, and this time it is not of the animal variety!

Last May, Chris and I found out that we were finally pregnant.  At my first ultrasound appointment the doctor said, “Well here is Baby A and here is Baby B.”  We were going to have twins!:)  Chris and I were so very excited and not too surprised as I had felt the feeling of twins since finding out and kept telling Chris that we would be having twins.  At around my 20th week, we found out that we would be having a girl and a boy.  We were so excited to be having both a boy and a girl as I had wanted to have a girl first and Chris had wanted to have a boy first.  We got the best of both worlds!  I was very thankful to have a great pregnancy with no morning sickness.  I was able to keep working until about my 32nd week when I found out that I had to go on strict bed rest.  This was very hard for me right before Christmas, but thankfully I have an amazing husband and family who took care of me!  (I have to say not having to cook and clean was quite nice!)  At my 36th week appointment, I was feeling quite ready to be done and asked my doctor if I could come in the next day to have a c-section.  It was my dad’s birthday that day and I thought it would be neat for the twins to be born on his special day.  The doctor told me no and that it was a bit too early and we n
eeded to try to hold off for about another week or two.  At the end of the appointment they found out that I had preeclampsia which is common with multiple pregnancies and can be pretty severe.  The doctor called me later that night and told us that I was getting my wish and to be at the hospital right away the next morning.  It was a bit overwhelming to have less than 24 hours to prepare that we would be parents the next day.  I had to have a c-section because both babies were breach.  At 12:05 PM, Miss Sophia Grace Williams was born weighing 6 lbs 4 oz and was 19.5 inches long.  Little Sawyer Dean was born soon after at 12:07 PM.  He weighed 5 lbs 10 oz and was also 19.5 inches long.  It was an extra special day with them being born on their grandpa’s birthday!  It is amazing how someone can be so in love with two little babies immediately.

They are both very good babies!  Sophia loves her baths, likes to grunt and make little noises, and already loves to snuggle with mom.  Sawyer is very good at keeping his pacifier in his mouth, likes to snort when he is mad, and hates taking baths (just like a typical boy!)  They love being next to each other and “talking” to each other!

I now have a good excuse to have a messy house because there is two of everything and by the time we get done feeding, changing diapers, and getting babies asleep, it is about time to start all over again!  I can’t complain too much though because we are very fortunate to have such amazing families.  They have helped us out tremendously by making us meals, doing laundry, and of course helping with the babies!

We were lucky enough to have Grandma Sharon and Grandpa Bob come to visit us.  They were here to see the babies dedicated at church on February 12th.  They are both proud great-grandparents and we loved having them here with us.

Well, I figured it was ok to leave out the job stuff that I talk about every single year and just tell you about the new loves of Chris and my life.  I hope this letter finds each of you happy and healthy, and we can’t wait to show off our new additions!

                                                                                                                                               With Love,
Chris, Mandy, Sawyer, and Sophia Williams

Dear Family, WE just arrived home from doing a wagon ride for the Arizona National Guard. They had a awards ceremony for some of the men who will be shipping out to Afghanistan My job was to shuttle them to and from the parking lot to the site down in the palm trees. Anyway it was fun. Myrna rode shotgun and kept the rowdy ones in line . I used Dollar and Dimples to pull my covered wagon and Sheena Frizzell used Dime and Duncan to do a wedding for me with the vis-vis.

Speaking of horses names how many horses name can you remember that Dad had when we was growing up . The first one I remember was Toots the old gray mare that had to be put down because of have trouble foaling. Dutch and Dan the best Buckrake team in the west. Montana a big mouse colored mare that bucked Dad off many times. Buster the horse that Dad lost up at Baileys lake; and never did find. Susan the mother to Goldy the best horse that ever came off the Ranch. No doubt the best horse I've ever rode .Bricky and Crown Flite two stallions that dad had one of these two was the father to Goldy. I can't forget Bird the mare I was riding when Dad was rounding up the horses for the big Auction before he went in the Army There was Old Grace a black Percheron mare The mother to Susan and Buster and Turk .Bill and Barney Percheron team Strip and Bolly a Belgian team the slowest horses that ever pulled a dump rake. Babe and Fan a team of Brown mares . Babe was the mother to Jughead He was my horse and I sold him to Bill West for a Dude horse for $100.00 Of course there was Bonny who was the mother to Skipper who was Sharons horse also Lady who was mine. There was Babe the mother to Smoky and Gypsy Pams horse also she was the Mother to Dusty a colt I had, Probably more Robert and Gerald will have to help out now . I can't forget Newt and I know there are more .

Myrna and I are busy loving life doing what we enjoy working with lots of people doing the weddings , Petting zoo's and wagon rides mostly at Christmas time . Don't know if we are going to make it to Star Valley this Summer with the Price of gas.

We love our Famlies every one of you. We just hope we can keep on keepin on . So until we get to see you Keep smiling

Ken and Myrna

Kelly & Sandra 2011

Hello Family,

It’s been a year full of not a whole lot to report. We’ve been blessed in many ways,
however.

Kelly started swimming last year at the local indoor pool and worked his way up to one
mile. It’s not much when you consider he used fins (don’t laugh), but compared to
starting out from 10 laps in 40 minutes to over 70 laps non stop. It was a great
experience. So thanks to Jim for the motivation there. Kelly finally got a job. Starting
over in a different field has it’s rewards, and as you might expect, it’s challenges. So it is
what it is.

Sandra keeps her self busy helping everyone, and working ever faithfully as a dental
assistant. She certainly is the rock in our family. She currently serves as a primary
teacher in our ward.

Brooke has had a bumpy roller coaster of a year. She ended up not getting married. We
love her and are very proud of her. She works for the city of Henderson as a pre school
teacher. She’s very good at her job and the kids love her like crazy. Her personality
keeps us on our toes as always.

Tanner worked as a life guard for most of the year, and has just recently got a new job at
a tire store which gives him a full week of work. Hopefully he’ll be turning in his papers
soon for a mission. He’s been very active with his friends singing for all the other friends
who have been leaving for their missions.

Sorry this isn’t too long. So let me just say this. Some may say that this past year hasn’t
been good, or that they are glad that it’s over. I for one have found that it has been very
rewarding, and rich and full of blessings that are literally too many to count. It has been a
year that has certainly caused one to stop and take notice. I must acknowledge God; for
his love, and his tender mercies to our family and me. For our parents, and for our upbringing
we are so greatful! What an amazing life it has been so far. And, even though
we don’t get to see all of you very often it is such a great blessing to be part of such a
great family.

We were privileged to have Camille hang out at our house a little, and to see Lisa and Jim
for a “little bit” while they were in Vegas. Wish we could have spent more time with you
guys.

So if you’re ever down this way, please look us up. Email at

kghumpherys@gmail.com or call or text at 702-300-7766. Ask for big bubba and we’ll keep the light on for ya…

Love Kelly, Sandra, Brooke, and Tanner.

Sherrie 2011

Hello Family,

Things are going great. I have made a few changes in my life. I'm remarried and living in Ketchikan Alaska and loving it! Not working as of yet but thinking about looking for work in the fall after all the summertime boating/fishing/shrimping and fun stuff are over with. I will try to have more details in next years newsletter.

Love Sherrie

DeAna & Brian 2011

I understand I am the winner of the last letter to come in.  Well, I do like to win…
Our year has included one move to a bigger house.  Two daughters moving in and one getting married and moving out, four new schools, a new ward, new friends, new job and new (to us) Suburban.

We have 5 children living at home ages 14, 14, 9, 6, & 3, one dog, 5 fish, and a rooster next door.
We have one new son-in-law and a grand baby on the way.

The biggest news for Brian and I was that we were sealed in the St. George temple.  That took place on January 21st.  Yes I know that that didn’t happen in the 2011 calendar year, but we received the approval to do so a few days before Christmas ’11.
Speaking of Christmas, all of our children were at their other parents house and made for an interesting Holiday season.  We got to have a Christmas just he and I, and  we didn’t have to hide the kids’ gifts, that was nice.

Brian: Works for Parkway Autoplex here in Cedar City.  He is a superb salesman, but the economy is posing quite the challenge and he is always looking out for a different job that is more steady.  He makes the best jerky ever and has taught me a few of his tricks.  He is hunter and fisherman extraordinaire and he goes every  chance he gets.  Not often enough I’m guessing…
DeAna: Jerky maker apprentice. We sold quite a bit of jerky at Christmas time and I was the one at home making, smoking and packaging the jerky.  I feel honored that Brian has let me have the recipe since he hasn’t given it to anyone else.  I still play with the Teton Chamber Orchestra on occasion.  It’s quite the commute, but  I got to play with Richard Marx in February.  That was awesome and surreal.   I grew up listening to him and so sitting in the orchestra seeing him a few feet in front of me was rad. (sorry, had to use that 80’s word.)

Sierra and Matt:  Lovingly referred to as Mac and Cheese.  They married in October and are expecting a baby in September.  Brian got Matt a job at Parkway and Sierra is talking about going back to college.  They don’t know the gender of the baby yet, but think it’s going to be a boy.  Any bets?
Braylan:  He has a perma grin on his face.  People I don’t even know come up to me and tell me what a delight he is to watch because he is always so happy.  I tell them I can’t take credit, but would like to.  He is helpful, kind, loving and smart. He wants to be a mechanical engineer. He is already 5’10” and the HS football coach has his eye on him.

Lexie:  Lexie came to live with us in January and has been a lovely full time addition.  She is beautiful, kind, loving and helpful.  She is a straight A student and plays the guitar, piano and just auditioned for and made the high school choir for next year.  She is very talented, sweet and caring.  We love having her here full time.
Editors note:  I don’t know exactly how I’m going to support Bray and Lexie fully next year in High School as they will be attending Cedar High School---rivals of the High School Brian and I attended.  GO PINE VIEW!!!

Ahem…
Savannah: She is beautiful, smart, a great helper, loves animals, and I’m sure she would be that cowgirl that my dad always wanted me to be if we only had a horse…  She loves school and is doing 5th grade math (she’s in third grade) and got to dissect a frog the other day in science.  Ewwwww….
Ian:  He is loving his new school. He loves that his new teacher doesn’t yell and it has made a big difference in how he feels about school and it shows at home too.  He is very loving, active, energetic, happy, talkative, smart and sweet. He just started collecting Pokemon cards and that keeps him quite entertained.  That’s a quiet activity and so mom loves his new hobby too.

Abby:  Most of her siblings prayers include “blessing Abby that she will be good for mommy and won’t get into our stuff”.  I think she is going to be a scientist one day.  That or a comedian.  She is always on the move, painting the bathroom mirrors with toothpaste, or bathing in the bathroom sink, or getting into her siblings stuff, or snuggling with mommy, or watching her favorite show “Diego”, or …phew!   She keeps me on my toes.  I can’t wait for her to go to school…

Blending a family can be hard and takes a while for kids to adjust to their new roles, but I have to say that Bray and Lexie are so wonderful and set such a good example, that as difficult as it can be, or maybe should be, I know my kids’ lives are blessed for having them as older siblings.

We love living in “southern Utah” because when we do want warmth, we drive 45 minutes and we get out of the cold.

We look forward to the reunion and hope to see everyone there.  I’m excited to show my hubby and his kids Star Valley.  I know they will love it.

I’m excited for what 2012 brings.  Love you all.

Mary Lynn & Gary 2011

Dear Family,

So I’m only a month and a half behind when Hilary wanted this in! I’m not sure what has taken me so long, but mostly I just don’t sit down at the computer much anymore. I check out all the social updates from my phone and if I am on the computer it is to edit a few pictures quick and then I’m off. So, I apologize!

We are doing well. We are building onto our house and I am very excited about that to get some extra room and storage. Maybe now, everything will have a place and maybe it will get put in it’s place. Maybe not, who knows. Gary is still farming the same things as always. I’ll let you remember what those are. If you don’t, well, look at last years newsletter.

Emalee is 11 years old and in 5th grade. It’s been so nice to have her babysit for us. So much easier than trying to arrange for one. She is doing very well in school and still loves it! She broke her elbow last harvest running in from recess and another kid stepped on her heel and she fell. She wouldn’t let the teacher’s call me and tell me she hurt it because I was driving truck and she didn’t want to bother me. When the kids got home from school I called her to tell her that I would be coming to get them to ride with us instead of them going to the neighbor’s house. She let me know that she had hurt her elbow really bad and thought it was sprained. When I got there it looked like the bone was dislocated. We went to the clinic and found out it was broken and would need surgery that night and pins put in it. That was a crazy day and a trying time for her. She had the cast on for 6 weeks and had physical therapy for 9 weeks. She learned a lot from that experience, however, so I think it turned out to be a blessing. She is still playing the violin and fiddle.

Shortly after her accident we got in a car accident. We were rear ended while we were waiting for a tractor to go by and the young girl didn’t notice the line of cars stopped. None of us were hurt thankfully but the car (that we had only had for two weeks) was totalled. Another new experience we learned this year!

Jake is 9 years old and in 3rd grade. He gets good grades in school but doesn’t love it quite as much as his sisters. He would rather be with his dad or riding his motorcycle and four wheelers. He also got to ride a snowmobile on his own this year around the trails of the cabin we rent every year. He really had a good time getting to go on a trek with his Grandpa Humpherys last summer from Montpelier to Afton. He loves horses and animals too. He wishes we would let him get another dog but we are tired of them getting ran over so he has to live without one. He is still playing the fiddle. We switched his teacher to just a fiddle teacher and he is enjoyed it a lot more. He loved playing Jazz ball this winter and he talked me into letting him play baseball this spring and is enjoying it so far. I’m not sure I’ll see him play much. I’ll be sitting in the car while it’s cold.

Megan is 7 years old and in 1st grade. She LOVES school and sports. She wishes she could sign up for every extra-curricular activity they offer. She LOVED playing Jazz ball again. Everyone just loved to watch her play because she is so happy and excited about it all of the time. She also plays the violin and fiddle and has picked up on it so fast. It bothers her brother a little that she is almost at the same level as he is when she started 9 months later. She is also going to be playing softball but won’t start until June. She loves to read and write her own stories. So far, she is my “easy” child and helps make my life easy.

Landon is 3 years old and his parents little buddy. He goes with his dad quite a bit and hangs out with his mom as well. He begs his Mom to go to Walmart. That’s his favorite place! He loves to go with his Dad to the shop and work on equipment or to ride in the tractor. He was my passenger last year during harvest and loved to ride in the truck all day long. He will start pre-school next year but we probably won’t have him start Kindergarten for another two years because of his late August birthday.

Well, I’m sure I didn’t give all the news and updates I should have, but this year has just gone by and I can’t think of much more to say. I can’t wait for the reunion this year! (Mostly I just can’t wait for summer and warmth. )

Barry & Alisa 2011

What is going on with the Barry Humpherys family?  Barry is currently in the Republic of Georgia doing a short deployment of about two months.  He is going there with a small team to train the Georgian military so that they can deploy to Afghanistan.  He is only been there a few weeks but is enjoying the experience and the new culture and territory.  His regular job is working at the Marine Corps Communications-Electronics School (MCCES) as an Executive Officer.  He stays pretty busy with that and working out in his spare time.  We still live in the lovely Twentynine Palms CA.  J We have about another year there and then, off to another duty station.  Alisa is a busy mother of two.  She also spends time working out and sneaking in a few shopping days without the kids.  Garrett was born in December so he just turned one this year.  He is a very busy boy.  He LOVES to go outside and play.  He loves to climb on everything.  He loves his daddy and says his name many times during the day.  Addyson turned four this year.  She is a very busy and happy little lady.  She is excited to start pre-school this year.  She loves to dance around and sing.  She loves to run and jump and play at the park.  She also enjoys anything electronic.  (Must be like her dad).  Many times I will find her with my phone or computer playing a game or trying to figure things out.  We enjoy trips to Idaho when we can.  We have also taken a few trips to San Diego and Las Vegas since they aren’t too far away.  We welcome visitors so come to the desert and see us sometime!

Florence & Larry/ Vance & Parker 2011

Dear family,
This past year found us with much of the same.  The furniture store is still on the market, but not much action. Larry continues to make things work. Larry and Bob get out on Palisades as often as they can sneak off. Sometimes, they even catch an occasional fish.

We were disappointed to miss the reunion in Nevada City. We hear Newell & Sally did a great job!
Shawn & Hilary, thanks so much for doing the newsletter this year.
We get to Pocatello a couple times a month, to get our "Parker fix", which is really our highlight.
Vance is home with us, and believe it, or not, we enjoy having him around. He helps mom at home, & dad at the store. Having said that, Vance might have a different story.
Parker is in 1st grade. He is the smartest, & also the most disruptive, in class.(History repeats itself)
We love you all, so very much! We can't wait to see what  Gerald has in store this year. See you all soon.

Love,
Parkers & Madsens

Jan & Jon 2011

Hi Family,

Boy, this last year went so fast, it seems like a blur!
Last March Chelsea and I went to visit Curt and Jerri and my grandchildren for a few days and had such a wonderful time.  It is so fun to spend time with my family.  I don’t get to do it as much as I would like!
John, Curt, Tyler, and I went out to see Chelsea and Jason last May, and of course we had to take in wonderful sights and Disneyland.  We had such a good time!
At Thanksgiving time, Chelsea, Jason, and I went to spend the holiday with Curt, Jerri and the kids again. We knew I wouldn’t have time off at Christmas so we were able to get together at Thanksgiving instead. We had lots of fun shopping for Christmas at the outlets!
I’m sure you all know by now that John and I are engaged.  He proposed to me on Birthday, July 7th.  We are very happy, and will be getting married on the beach in Kauai, Hawaii, on August 28th.  It will be a sunset wedding.  It will be here before you know it!!
We hope everyone is doing well.  We are all doing fine.
Love you all,
Jan & John

Curt & Jerri 2011

Hello Humpherys family
I hope that everyone is doing well.  Here is how my part of the family is doing.
Tyler—Tyler is now 5 years old.  He will be going to kindergarten in the fall, but for now is still going to preschool.  He loves wrestling, playing with his toys, and video games.  He is a great brother to his little sister and loves playing with her.  He is also just starting soccer and will be playing coach pitch baseball right after soccer is over.  Tyler got to go to California and see Chelsea, Jason, his grandma and John.  He also got to go to Disneyland and Legoland.  Life doesn’t get much better for a five year old.
Ella—Ella is 2 years old.  She loves dancing and will dance to pretty much any kind of music.  She also loves playing with her brother.  She gets to participate a little in Tyler’s gymnastics class that he goes to as a part of his school.  She has become quite the little tumbler.  She will talk at home all the time, but is very shy still until she gets warmed up (then watch out).  She is very independent and wants to do everything herself with the big exception of getting potty-trained.
Jerri—Jerri is a great mom and wife for our family.  She tries to make sure she that everyone is taken care of.  She has gotten into cooking more and is always trying out new recipes with success, which is what you say if you ever want her to cook again.  She loves taking the kids out on outside adventures when it is not raining (which could stop any day now, by the way) or doing crafts with the kids when we are inside.  The kids love spending time with her.
Curt—I started working for a new company in June after being jobless for awhile.  It sure wasn’t easy out there and it was a huge relief to finally land a job.  I am now working at Schnitzer Steel in the credit department.  I initially started working 50-55 hours per week.  That has gotten much better, but I didn’t get to see my family much last summer.  I got to accompany Tyler to California to see everyone and the sites.  It was so nice to see everyone.  It was an unforgettable time and we appreciate Chelsea and Jason helping to make that happen for us.  I have been listening a lot lately to the CD that Newell made of some of my dad’s greatest hits and I must say old Kenny Rogers doesn’t have anything on my dad on the song “Ruben James”.  Thanks so much Newell for doing that.  One more dad related thing here, but if you haven’t seen his old videos on youtube you need to make sure to check that out.  I can’t wait to see everyone again, but I am not sure when that will be so I will leave you with a story I just couldn’t believe.
My friend told me a story about how he had just gotten a dog from the shelter after he bought his new house.  He went to take it for a walk one day and left the dog in the garage, while he ran back in the house to get a jacket.  He came back and saw the dog had tipped over a gas can and was licking the gas off the floor.  He ran to go check on the dog, but the dog bolted.  The dog ran around the neighborhood, through his neighbor’s yards with my friend chasing right behind.  Finally right before my friend caught the dog, he told me the dog just dropped.  I said in shock “Did the dog die?”  No he replied… he just ran out of gas.

Hopefully you haven’t heard that one.

Love
Curt, Jerri, Tyler, Ella
