Sharon's Clan 2017

Sharon, Pam & Ray
Hello everyone       mom and I are doing our letter together this year .As a lot of you know we moved mom here to the great state of  Montana in November It was quite a move , Jeff and Sandra came to help also .don't know how we did it but if it hadn't been for Kim we, would probably still be there .     Not a great year for 2017   as far as weather goes winter went on endlessly and then when  it got nice we were on fire , lasted till about first snowfall.  This didn't help Rays health at all but he did squeeze a couple one day fishing trips to Helena.    I didn't get to do a lot this year but am looking forward to 2018   and seeing as many of you as we can.            Here's some from mom
Ok its my turn sure k
MISS EVERONE IN STARVALLEY especially neva and marisella  .the house and truck still haven't sold in case anyone is interested.  As soon as it sells I’m gonna buy the old house and fix it up as a bed and breakfast if marisella will sell it to me.  Looking forward to the family reunion in Hill city S.D.  when bob and I were there before Chris took us thru the park you could almost reach out and touch the presidents.on the dirt banks you could see speckles of gold.  Sure was a lot of buffalo.  Be good to see you all.  - Love Sharon and Pam and Ray

Dear Humpherys Family
I just received Barry’s email about the family news letter and decided now was as good a time as any…let’s get er done!
2017 was an eventful year.  January thru March was the usual waiting for winter to end and the babies to start arriving.  We both spend our evenings looking at stud books together  and discussing  (arguing haha) who would compliment each mare.  We have a young stallion and we are feeling pretty good about his off spring so far.  One of them I will start running this summer.  We have a couple of others who are getting some training now, and we look for good things from them. All I know is, if we were doing this for the money we would be in trouble, but the happiness it brings to both of us keeps us going.  It takes a long time to build a reputation and get a few out there running and proving themselves.  Although I do my best to help with the chores when I’m off on the weekends, Bryan keeps everything rolling.  He puts up all the hay, does the daily chores, and puts up with me.  I’m very lucky to have him.
I had a fun season barrel racing.  Years ago I read an article in the quarter horse publication about a mother, daughter and grand daughter barrel racing together.  When I read that I thought…we need to be doing something with all of these horses.  It took awhile to get it all going, but this year, mother, daughter, grand daughter and grand son all competed.  Sawyer and Sophia both did the pattern on their own, while Mandy, Chris and I stood on the side lines holding our breath.  Of course they wear helmets and we have put them on a very safe horse, but as anyone knows…things can happen.  They have both gained so much confidence and it will be fun to see where it all goes.  We have met some wonderful friends with kids and it’s a good family thing.  Chris is a saint.  He too helps keep things going.  I will brag on Mandy a little because I know she won’t in her letter.  She and Josie are a site to be seen!  I love watching them run.  She always gives me pointers and I listen because she’s a dang good rider.  I’m not going to lie…I’m living a bit of a dream getting to do what I love with my daughter and grand kids.  And I’ll repeat the part about being thankful for Bryan and Chris because none of it would happen without them.
Bryan and the crew had a good year hunting.  His daughter Kresha got a nice buck this fall. We had hunters come in to hunt the pheasants.  Although the pheasant numbers are down in the state, our hunters have had some good hunts.  Bryan has done a lot over the years to help the population.  He plants food plots to help them winter and he is conservative about not over hunting the land.  No big game this year, but he did fill the freezer with a steer we traded for hay.  Bryan fattened him up with corn and he’s pretty good eating!
The other big event this year was moving Mom from Wyoming to Montana.  This was not an easy thing for Mom.  We got the entire house and contents moved in about 4 days.  Jeff and Sandra, Pam, Bryan and I along with help from the church and family dug in and worked till it was done.  A pending storm in Montana caused us to kick it up several notches and knock 2 days off of the initial estimate to get it done.  It was hard.  It was especially hard for Mom, but I’m proud of her and I’m thankful that she is in Montana and can enjoy my wonderful sister and Ray.  I wish she would have considered coming here, but let’s be honest…Eastern South Dakota is a far cry from Wyoming.  I’ve grown to love it, but if it weren’t for my family here, I would pack up and head for the mountains.  I think you always long for the type of area you grew up in.
We are in charge of the family reunion this year.  I will send out a separate email with details.  We’ve decided on Black Hills of South Dakota.  I am hoping that many of you will be able to come.  The Black Hills can rival the beauty of Montana, Idaho or Wyoming.  Mt Rushmore is in the Black Hills, along with tons of other activities.  Mt Rushmore is truly something that I think everyone should see at least once in their lifetime.  The High Country Ranch, just outside of Hill City will be our central location.  I really love this place and have stayed there many times over the years.  I am actually going a couple of days prior to the family reunion so I can make sure everything is ready, plus enjoy a few days to ride.
So as a wrap up…it’s still pretty much the same thing.  Work, hunting, horses and do it all over again until we can’t anymore…which hopefully will be a very long time.  Like all of you…sometimes life is great and sometimes it’s a challenge.  I’m thankful for my Humpherys family roots, which I believe makes us tough.  Bryan and I recently saw a movie called 12 Strong.  It was a great movie, but more importantly it made me once again appreciate the sacrifices our military has made for all of us.  I have told the story to many how Grandpa enlisted while still having a young family at home to go and fight for our country.  That patriotism runs deep in our family.  Let’s make sure all of those young ones know the sacrifices that were made by Grandpa Dean and Grandma Neva and other family members. Let’s never take it for granted.
Thank you Barry for doing the news letter.  Thank you Kenny’s family for a great family reunion.  It was so fun and well organized.
Looking forward to what this year will bring.
Love to all!  Kim and Bryan

 Wonderful Family,

Can’t believe it is newsletter time again and that another year has come and gone!  Here are a few highlights of what happened this last year in the Williams household!
Sawyer and Sophia turned six in January.  Can’t believe that we sent our babies off to Kindergarten this year….seemed like we blinked and they were starting school!  They have really been enjoying school this year and are doing extremely well.  We are very proud of the polite, smart, kind kids that they are!  A few new things that they have enjoyed this year together are t-ball, swimming lessons, horse riding lessons, and they also participated in an American Ninja Warrior class at our local gymnastics gym.
Sophia is my little spit fire!  She has a zest for life and likes to be lovingly ornery to her brother!  She loves to tease him that she is the older one and took full advantage of this status back in January.  We were at the Black Hills Stock Show celebrating Mom’s 60th Birthday and Sawyer entered into a roping contest for kids his age (which he did quite well and roped the steer dummy 3 out of 5 times!).  There was a little girl that wanted Sophia to play with her while the competition was going on.  Sophia kindly said, “I can’t right now because I need to watch my little brother rope!”  Oh my!!  I’m glad she takes that two minutes older in life thing pretty seriously and makes sure that Sawyer knows he is her “little brother”!  Too bad Sawyer is about 3 inches taller than her so it appears that she is the “younger sister!” HA!:)  Sophia also really enjoys singing along with her karaoke machine.  She has quite the little voice and loves to put some dance moves in while singing to her Kids Bop CD.  Sophia also has a love for making arts and crafts.  She got an art table for Christmas and you will find her quite often sitting at it designing and creating very unique things.  I was blessed beyond measure to find a whole basketful of birthday gifts that she had been lovingly creating for me for quite some time and secretly storing them until it was time for my birthday!  I felt loved for sure!:)  Sophia is quite the little smarty pants and has self-taught herself how to write her first and last name in cursive just by watching me write.  She also started reading the chapter book Charlotte’s Web here recently.  Needless to say she loves school!
Sawyer is my little softy.  He loves his family and loves spending time with us!  Even though his sister likes to pick on him, he is her knight in shining armor and will do anything to make her happy.  He is very protective and is always looking out for her.  He is going to make one awesome husband some day!  Sawyer is still my little sports nut.  You will find him with some sort of ball in the house 24/7 at home.  He can’t wait for us to put up his basketball hoop that he got for Christmas so that he can start practicing outside as soon as the weather warms up.  He has quite the arm and did very well hitting and throwing on the t-ball team this year.  It was pretty cute because he went to a kid’s baseball camp that our local town baseball team put on.  They had all the kid’s up close fielding the balls as the kids would take turns hitting the balls either off the tee or pitches that the coaches would pitch to them.  When Sawyer got up there, he hit a smoking line drive at the coach on the first pitch and then one that hit the back gym wall on the second pitch.  Needless to say they had the other kids back up after those two!:)  Sawyer also really enjoys hunting.  He got a BB gun this Christmas and enjoys going hunting for sparrows and rabbits and also shooting target practice.  He is also learning how to rope.  His practice targets are the goats that we bought for the kids a couple years ago.  We thought it would be a “fun” idea at the time to buy these cute, little goats for the kids to play with….they were cute for awhile,… but then we quickly realized they are also LOUD and SMELLY and ANNOYING!!  I guess it’s all worth it when you see Sawyer running around having a blast  chasing them and trying to rope the little buggers!   He is also doing well in school and really enjoys math!
Chris is on his 11th year of working at Trail King.  He very recently got promoted to an engineering manager!  He is very well respected within the company by not only his peers, but also the customers that he designs trailers for.  He and his dad continue to hobby farm on his grandparents land in Winner, as well as still doing a little dirt work with their excavator and custom harvesting in the fall.  I am very thankful for the amazing husband and father that he is and how hard he works to provide for our family.
Since the twins started Kindergarten this year, I am finally back to work as an educator again!  I am a paraprofessional in the Plankinton School District where the twins go to school.  It is very nice to be in the same school as them.  I thank God for his timing and faithfulness as I turned down a couple teaching positions in other school districts because I didn’t have peace about them and really wanted to be in the same school district as the kids.  He provided this para position at the beginning of November and it has been really nice.  I work one on one with students in the Special Ed room.  It has been the best of both worlds as I am back to working with students but don’t have all the responsibilities, lesson planning, and correcting as a classroom teacher would have.  Getting to leave when the bell rings with the kids is priceless!
We are looking forward to another year of horses, riding, and barrel racing with the family.  The summer is pretty much spent with all things horses.  It is a blessing that we get to do this alongside mom.  She is my rock and is there before and after every run.  We both had pretty good years!  She started the year off rocking it at the State NBHA finals winning quite a bit of moolah and I had to spend the rest of the year trying to win enough money to beat her amount!:)  Don’t know if I ever quite got there or not….I think it was pretty close!  We aren’t the least bit competitive are we?!  Don’t know where we get that from!?  Mom also won a beautiful breast collar and a couple other prizes at some different races and I was thrilled when I placed 3rd in the 1D this last summer at the Blazin Barrels Finals and won a pretty nice check and chore cart.  The twins officially “ran” their first race ALL BY THEMSELVES on their horse, Sugar at a couple of the races.  It’s one thing to run alongside with them, but it’s a whole new level as a mom to let your five year old child go out in an open arena by themselves to trot through the pattern on a live horse.  Wowzers!  There was a lot of praying going on!  It was cute because before one of their first runs, I was telling Sawyer, “ Now make sure you look at where you are riding to, and make sure you are paying attention to what you are doing so you go on the correct side of the barrel, and MOST IMPORTANT….and before I could say pull back on the reins if Sugar starts to take off, Sawyer says, “ I know, I know Mom, just go out there and have fun!”  Yah, that too buddy but also PULL BACK ON THE REINS IF SUGAR STARTS TO TAKE OFF!!  LOL! I am excited to see what this summer brings!
Hoping we get to see as many of you as possible at this year’s reunion in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota!  It truly is a breathtaking area with so many things to do and see!  Love and miss you all!

With Love, Chris, Mandy, Sawyer, and Sophia Williams

Hello Humpherys Family,
I’ve been stressing a bit because as of today, not too many letters have come in.  That only stresses me because I know it’s going to take some time to figure out how to put it all together once they do get here.
So once again I am thinking about what actually did happen this year.  Note to self…I will make some notes along the way for next year’s news letter.  I just had my 59th birthday this month and it’s very apparent that my memory will be the first thing to leave me.
2016 was a mixture of good and bad.
We lost Bob in August which was heart breaking.  I must say that I did learn a lot during that time.  I thought I knew Bob quite well, but at the funeral and the days afterward, I realized that I really didn’t know him well at all.  It was fun to hear all the wonderful stories about his life and how he always managed to come out the other side of various adventures.  It was so interesting to hear stories from Bob’s kids and his sister and brother.  I never really got the opportunity to know them well.  By the time Mom and Bob married I was off on my own.  I realized that he might be the last of an era of great adventurers.  Bob was always a very good father figure to me and I am grateful for the love and devotion that he gave Mom.  I think the most important thing I took away from the funeral was not only did Bob live his life well, but he left this earth in a very honorable way.  The doctor that cared for Bob during the last years of his life made me realize what an incredibly strong man he was.  He lived his life with a can do attitude right until the end.  In death I learned the biggest lesson from Bob, how to die well. He was comforting others and laughing almost until the end.  I miss him.
I am forever grateful that we were able to make a trip out to Wyoming to see Mom and Bob in July.  Mandy, Chris, Sawyer, Sophia and I made the trip together.  Bryan stayed at home to take care of the horses and hounds.  Pam was able to meet us out there. We had so much fun.  I am thankful that the kids were able to see Bob while he was still feeling pretty good…or so it seemed, because I don’t think anyone ever knew how Bob really felt because he always said he was doing great for a young fella.  One of the high lights of the trip was playing softball in the ball diamond across the road from Mom and Bob’s.  Mom was out there playing with us and she hit the ball every time it was pitched to her.  She had certainly not lost her touch.  It brought back great memories of watching her play when I was a little girl.  Of course she was the most beautiful Mom out there with her blonde hair all piled up on her head in a bee hive hairdo.(The higher the hair, the closer to  heaven!)  She looked like a movie star, but she pitched that ball hard and fast.  She was written up many times for her wins in the Missoula news paper.
In November Bryan and I went to Pam and Ray’s for Thanksgiving.  Mom was out there as well and it wonderful to spend Thanksgiving together, and Bryan enjoyed finally getting to see where I grew up.  It went by too quickly.
Bryan had a good year of hunting.  In January he got a tag for a buffalo in the Black Hills.  They allow for a few bulls to be culled from the herd each year.  That has been some fabulous eating.  In September he went to Canada for almost 2 weeks and got a very nice moose.  I’ve decided firmly that I am not a fan of moose meat.  That was the longest that he was ever gone…I didn’t like it, however it did give me an even greater appreciation for everything he does to keep me in horses.  The horse thing is a mutual addiction, thankfully!  Back to the hunting count.  In November he got a nice Mule deer and then there is pheasant hunting that starts in October and goes thru the end of December.  Bryan is an excellent cook and enjoys preparing the wild game.  I like not cooking and eating the wild game.  I did tell him the other night I will become the chief chef once I retire…which won’t be anytime soon.  (Note, horse addiction) The last story concerning hunting was a trip he took with his son Brandyn to the Black Hills elk hunting.    This trip was between Christmas and New Years.  The boys got stuck…very, very stuck and had to spend the night in the vehicle.  They also did not have cell phone reception, but were able to contact help via On Star in Brandyn’s pickup.  It was a long night for me, thinking of every possible thing that could go wrong.  In my head I know that Bryan is a very good, experienced out doors man, but I was still a wreck until I could speak to him personally once they were out and had cell phone reception.  He scolded me for worrying.  I should have know they would be just fine.  I am thankful they had the On Star or maybe it would not have turned out quite as well.  They did not get an elk that trip, which was good.  He needs to be humbled once in awhile.  (smile)
I had a very good summer.  This was my second year barrel racing.  I improved quite a bit and got in the money in several races.  Mandy had another good year.  She is an amazing rider and never skipped a beat from her earlier days of barrel racing.  Even Sawyer and Sophia did some PeeWee runs.  I’ve decided that this barrel racing horse stuff is either going to keep me young or kill me.  Hauling 4 horses, cleaning stalls, feeding, watering, warming up, running, etc. etc. is hard work, especially when we go out of town.  That being said…we are having so much fun I hope I can continue for a very long time.  I truly thank God for Chris and Bryan who do so much to help keep things going too.  I love my horse, Hollie.  Bryan says that she was meant for me because she is such a brat.  She is a character and she has so much heart.  I have another horse that I raised.  She is out of a very special palomino mare that I lost in October from colic.  It was an awful way to lose her.  I am so thankful that I have 2 offspring out of her.  One is a buttermilk buckskin who is in Oklahoma now getting some training.  I’m hoping that she will be my next barrel horse when I retire Hollie.  Hollie will go on to give us some beautiful smart babies in the future.
I love spending time with Sawyer and Sophia.  I go thru withdrawal if I don’t see them at least once a week. I know that Mandy will fill you in on all the details about their little lives.  I will just say that they are a huge blessing and this Grandma gig is better than I could have imagined.  I try to take advantage of it because I’m sure some day it won’t be cool to hang out with Grandma.  Sophia calls it: having a Grandma party when they get to spend the night with me.  We usually have popcorn and watch a movie and do horse stuff if the weather allows.  Sawyer is no longer into sitting on Grandma’s lap or anything too serious like that.  Instead he shows me how to bounce a ball off of my knee or he throws the football as hard as he can to see if I can catch it.  I usually do.
I think I’ve covered the major happenings.  Bryan and I are planning on making it to the family reunion this summer.  It’s been way too long and I can’t wait to see all of you.  I look forward to reading all of your letters.

Love,
Kim and Bryan

Dear Wonderful Family,
Newsletter time has rolled around again!!  Mom and I were both assigned the task of the newsletter this year, but I just want to thank my AWESOME mom because she is the one who really did all of the work!! Thanks, Mom!  Here is a highlight of what happened this last year!
Sawyer and Sophia turned five in January.  I can’t believe that they are five years old already!!  They are such good kids and are the biggest blessing to us!  We thank God every day for them!!  They started pre-school this last August.  Both were excited but a little unsure as well.  It didn’t take them long before they LOVED it!!  They are both learning lots and making lots of new friends.  I am sad that the school days have started because I know things will just keep flying by from here, but I am thankful that they are doing so well.
We had a FUN summer that basically consisted of all things horses!!  Mom and I competed in barrel races around the area.  Luckily, we don’t have to travel too far to be able to compete.  This year the twins were able to compete at some of the races as well.  Sophia usually rode her pony, Bella.  Good thing Chris is such a good sport and was usually the one running her around the barrels to make sure she would be ok.  Sawyer usually rode with Grandma Kim on Harley Horse.  Chris was thankful so that he could catch his breath from Sophia’s run!!  We made lots of memories and had a GREAT season!! We all improved from the previous season as well! The twins each won their first barrel racing buckle (Mom and I were jealous because we have yet to do that), Mom placed and got quite a few checks this year, and I improved and won some 1D competitions and checks as well!  We are looking forward to this coming season!
In July we were able to visit Grandma Sharon, Grandpa Bob, and Aunt Pam in Wyoming.  We had such a wonderful time!   We did some fishing, got to see the fireworks in Thayne, played baseball in the park, went to Jackson, and got to visit with Aunt Florence, Uncle Gerald, Marisela, Neva, and their families as well.  We were so thankful that we had such a special visit and for us all to get to see Grandpa Bob one last time.  We will miss his positive, happy-go-lucky, funny self!
Chris is on his 10th year of working at Trail King as a mechanical engineer and is still designing the heavy specialized trailers.  He still does some excavating and hobby farming as side jobs on the weekends.  He is an amazing father and husband and we are so thankful for the hard worker that he is and for everything that he does for our family.
I have been doing a little subbing this year since the twins have been in school part time.  I am in the process of applying for elementary teacher positions in the area.  It has been such a blessing to be able to stay at home with twins up until this point, but hopefully something comes together and I will be teaching again this coming year.
I hope this newsletter finds everyone doing well.  We miss and love you all!

                   With Love,
Chris, Mandy, Sawyer, and Sophia Williams

Pam & Ray 2016

Hello Dear Family,
Another year has passed, they just keep going faster!  I’m still at Murdochs, year 25, talk about going fast!  But I do like my job.  I work on the Power Equipment side, still cashiering, but I have sold chain saws, generators, and sold my first CAN-AM last week.  Ray has enjoyed another year of retirement, fishing, and keeping up with the yard.  He also has been very busy remodeling our basement, new flooring and painting.  We are just about done and is so nice.
Kim and Bryan got to come for Thanksgiving and Mom was here too.  We all miss Bob so much, but being together as much as we can helps.
We are so over winter and it just keeps hanging in there, but looking forward to the coming year and making plans to spend time with family, fishing, camping, and loving our dog, Mya.
Can’t wait to see the South Dakota crew this year.  Those twins are really something and love to hear stories about them and their animals.
Thank you Kim and Mandy for teaming up to do.

   Love,
  Pam, Ray, and Mya

Bob & Sharon 2015

Dear family,

My it’s that time of year again. Star valley has had quite the winter call. Lots of snow. Today is the 19th of February, Mandy our granddaughter’s birthday. I remember going to South Dakota, when she was born! I can remember when all us kids were growing up. All the chores we had to do, milking cows putting up hay and grain, plowing, planting.  Mother had a big garden with lots of good food.  We helped mother with peas, green beans, carrots and beats.  Mother knew her mushrooms! We had some of those also! We had a lot of fun riding horses, getting on and riding them fast. Bob has had some health problems, we can be thankful, it could be worse! Pam and Ray surprised us at Christmas by showing up and spending time with us.  In June, Kim Brian Mandy and Chris and Kids will be with us. So life is good!

From Bob. The year of 2015 was a good one. We had my Sister Jina, Kim and Brian & Pam and Ray spend some time with us! Larry and Florance sold their store and made the move to Pocatello. We see Marcella and Neva often. All are doing well. Just getting older.     Our best to you all!      Bob

Kim & Bryan 2015

Hello Family!

Another cold South Dakota winter, so I’m trying to be productive!  Can’t lie…really hate these long winters, but this one has been milder than usual and we are expecting weather in the 40s next week, so the end is in sight.  The real trick is getting my 57 year old brain to remember what happened in 2015!

Bryan and I went to see Mom and Bob over Memorial Day.  We had a great time, but the weather wasn't great.  May can be pretty unpredictable everywhere so this year we are planning on a trip in July.

Mandy and I spent the summer barrel racing.  It was such a fun summer and we are looking forward to this coming summer.  Mandy picked up right where she left off years ago.  She hadn’t ridden much in the past 10 years, but you wouldn’t know it!  She won some money and got the bug again.  I did well too considering this is my first year barrel racing.  I have a lot to learn yet, but mainly I just loved being out there.  It kept us both busy riding during the week, getting the horses in shape.  Honestly I’m a “little” proud of our efforts.  It wasn’t easy hauling two horses, and twin 3 year olds to the arena to practice.  We shared a lot of laughs and our fair share of frustration trying to get the whole thing going.  We’d set up a corner of the arena with toys, bug juice and snacks, and then each of us would take our turn trying to run the pattern.  Early in the season my biggest challenge was not hitting the barrel and even ended up in the emergency room with full front on hit to the shin.  We are both looking forward to the coming year and already have several races in our plans.  We have a new little welsh mare that Sawyer and Sophia can learn on this summer.

Mom and Pam came for a visit in June.  We had the best time.  It just went too fast!  I wish we didn’t all live so far apart.  We spent the time cooking and eating, visiting and playing with Sawyer and Sophia. So fun…

Bryan is still doing real-estate appraisal.  He works mostly on farm and commercial appraisals.  He made a trip to Idaho to pick up a new mare.  He and his daughter, Kresha stayed with Uncle Gerald and Aunt Tena overnight.  They both really enjoyed getting to meet them and so appreciated all of the hospitality.  It was a long trip, but they enjoyed getting to spend some time together.  The mare we purchased is a Judge Cash mare.  We bred her to our stallion and are expecting a special baby out of her this spring.  We will have 3 new babies this coming spring.  We had 3 really nice babies in 2015. My mare had a BEAUTIFUL buckskin stud colt.  I’m pretty sure he is NOT for sale.  He has such a great temperament and he’s so nice to look at.  I’m really blessed to get to do what I love, which is horses…combined with family.   Its fun and we both really enjoy it.  I’ve learned a lot from Bryan.  He is a pedigree guy and knows all the old foundation bloodlines.  He also loves hunting.  He and his son went to Northern Minnesota bear hunting in September.  I don’t claim to understand the whole bear hunting thing, but we each have our things we like to do.  Right now he is in the Black Hills buffalo hunting.  The state allows very few tags to cull the herd.  He was really lucky to get a tag and I like buffalo meat so there will be a full freezer, which is great. We also have lots of pheasants and deer hunting on our farm.  We have hunters that come for pheasant hunting during the season.
I’m still working at the TV station selling advertising.  I like my job, and love my clients.  I’m still driving back and forth, which can be a challenge.  It’s okay…it helps me afford my horse addition.

I could write pages about Sawyer and Sophia, but I will leave that to Mandy.  I will just say that I love being a grandma.  Who knew it would be so much fun.  I see them as much as possible.  I just babysat for them this past weekend and the only downside is realizing that I am not as young as I used to be.  We played soccer, football, colored, painted toenails, played more football, hide and seek, dodge ball…I was one tired grandma and came home and went to bed!

Special Memory:  I have so many special memories of summers spent on the farm with Grandma, Grandpa, and the Uncles. (The aunties were both out on their own by then)  One memory comes to mind today as we face this very important upcoming election season.  I vividly remember morning prayers, where the family would all gather around the table on their knees.  I can remember several uncles and Grandma praying, but the one that is clearest in my mind is Grandpa.  I can remember him praying for the leaders of our country.  I never knew if Grandpa was democrat or republican because Im sure at the time I didnt know the differencebut I very clearly remember Grandpa praying for the president and the leaders of our country.  This time of family prayer left a lasting legacy for me.  I think about the struggles I have had in my life and yet that firm foundation of prayer left a legacy of faith that I cling to today.  I also believe that our country is at a very vulnerable time.  I believe this is one of the most important elections of my life time.  I would love to sit down and visit with Grandpa right now and hear his take of this whole crazy thing.  But one thing is for sure.  God is in control.  He listens to our prayers and we can rest knowing that he knows the answers.

I am really looking forward to reading each of your letters.

Love,
Kim and Bryan

South Dakota pheasant hunting at its best!

Dear Wonderful Family,
Newsletter time has rolled around again, and I am once again late with my newsletter! Ughh…Sorry!!  We have had another busy year, and as I think back I again wonder where the time went?!  Here is a highlight of what happened this last year in the Williams’ household!
Sawyer and Sophia turned four in January.  I can’t believe that they are four years old and will be in pre-school this coming year!  Where does the time go?  They are the pride and joy of our lives and we are very blessed by God to have them!
Sawyer and Sophia are GREAT eaters and pretty much eat us out of house and home.  I guess that is good because they are very tall for their age and might turn into good basketball players since they have some of that Humphery’s blood in them!  They both think they are comedians and will come up with homemade jokes.  I think their favorite is “What did the banana do to the apple?....Telephone pole!!!”  Don’t ask me to explain because I don’t get it either!!  Good thing that Grandma Kim loves them so much and can easily laugh at all of their jokes!   One of their favorite things to do is sing!  Most of the time they are making up their own songs but they also really enjoy listening to “Jesus music” on the radio station.  It makes me smile when they are singing one of the songs they have learned at church and are belting it out at Wal-Mart for all to hear.  It makes my heart happy for the love they have for God at such a young age.
Sophia is my little cowgirl diva.  She really enjoys dressing up in all her princess outfits and putting on her make-up for fun at home, but get her around her pony, Honey, and she is a little tough cowgirl that isn’t afraid of getting dirty.  She is so excited to run the barrels this year on one of our four ponies (we keep buying ponies …don’t ask me why) or on Grandma’s precious Harley Horse.  She loved watching Grandma Kim and I run this past summer and she is ready for her turn now.  She is great at cheering us on and in the video you can hear her yell, “Kick, Kick, Turn, Look, Go, Go, Go!!! She is also practicing to be a wonderful mom as her baby, Missy, goes with her EVERYWHERE!!  She kisses and talks to that baby I think more than she does to anyone else!  Sophia is one smart little cookie.  Nothing new gets past her and she can always tell when you have snuck a piece of candy or cookie!  Sophia loves to help me cook and I can already envision her on a kid version of the TV show “Chopped” in the future.  She is ready for school, loves to color, and is doing a great job of writing her name and other letters.
Sawyer is my little sweetheart and likes to cuddle.  He loves his family very much and I will stock up on all the hugs and kisses he gives now as I am sure in a couple years they won’t come as frequently.     He has such an imagination!  He loves to dress up in all sorts of different sports gear, super heroes, soldier outfits, cowboy/farm gear, etc.  He also loves to go out to farm and “work” with his dad.  His favorite thing is to get dirty in the shop and help his dad fix something with “his” tools.  Sawyer also has a love for sports and seems to have a natural ability and coordination already.  He is too young to join any type of sports yet but you can believe me that he is practicing already!  Thank goodness for the long hallway in our house that gets transformed into the “sports zone” during the cold months when we can’t be outside!  He also likes to come along and cheer Grandma Kim and I on at the barrel races.  He already understands at a young age that tipping a barrel is not good and proceeds to say, “No money for you!”   I don’t know if Sawyer will have the same interest of barrel racing this year as us girls but he wants to be a calf roper or a bull rider.  He begs anyone he can to be the bull and he will get on you and pretend to ride for the 8 seconds.  I will have to push the roping so that the bull riding doesn’t become a passion!  He is excited for school and is doing a great job of counting, coloring, and learning his letters.
Chris is on his 9th year of working at Trail King as a mechanical engineer and is still designing the heavy specialized trailers.  He enjoys what he does but wishes he could just farm.  He still gets to hobby farm on the weekends at his grandmother’s farm.  This last fall they did some custom harvesting as well and enjoyed that too.  Along with the excavator he bought a couple years ago, his dad and Chris purchased a long reach excavator this last summer.  They have been getting a few more jobs doing farmers’ dug outs with the long reach.  As busy as Chris is, he is an amazing husband and father.  He still manages to spend a lot of time with us and takes great care of us.  He built me an outside arena so that I am able to keep my horse at our house and practice the barrels at home and I can’t thank him enough for all that he does for the kids and I.
I am still at home with the kids.  As soon as they go to Kindergarten, I plan on going back to teaching.  A year ago this spring, Mom helped me purchase my new barrel horse, Josie.  We had a very fun summer getting to go to area barrel races together.  Josie and I started off a little slow, but by the middle and end of the summer we were making some runs in the 1D and winning some money!  I love Josie so much and I am so blessed to be able to find a horse that I can trust and click with.  I am so thankful for my mom and for her help to be able to get back into riding again!  We are looking forward to another fun, crazy, summer and this year being able to do it with three generations!
Grandma Sharon and Aunt Pam came to SD to visit last summer again.  We are so very thankful every time we get to see them as we miss them and love them so much.  This summer we are coming to Wyoming to visit Grandma Sharon, Grandpa Bob, and Aunt Pam there.  Here’s to ipads with movies and headphone for Chris and I!!
Well, we wish we didn’t live so far away from everybody!  I sure am grateful for the newsletter so that we keep informed of how everybody is doing each year.  We love and miss you all and can’t wait until the next time we are able to come to the family reunion and see everybody!  We pray God’s blessings on each of our precious family members!  As we say in South Dakota…”Let’s Go, Let’s Show, Let’s Rodeo!””
                                                                                                                With Love,
