NaDean 2014

Nadean
Newsletter for 2014
I am sitting at Carols dining room table typing this. Carol is at work, Blair's at work in Portland and Bailey needs her Grandma to let her out to go potty. She has a mind of her own and wont go yet. So......I'm sitting here typing and eating Carols pumpkin chocolate chip cookies.
Dearest Family,
The setting has been set, so here goes. St. George had its yearly snow day yesterday. It is hilarious how the natives treat snow here. They cancel school, at least, some schools do. Many parents keep their kids home, have hot chocolate and make snowmen. It is a holiday. My cleaning gal text me a picture of the snowman that she and her girls were making and said she wouldn't be coming to clean due to the snow.
As many of you know, I joined Facebook and I am enjoying seeing and hearing about so many of you. WE DO HAVE QUITE THE FAMILY!!!!  I'm going to Physical Therapy, trying to learn to walk with better balance.
Katie is getting married in the Salt Lake Temple on May 5,. I will attend this wonderful event on my way home. I'm putting my house up for sale soon after I get home this spring.
My weekly activities are Monday- Friday Lectures on Health issues on Monday, pinochle on Tuesday, potluck and entertainment on Wed., Bingo on Thursday and Friday some of us meet at different restaurants and have lunch. Most weeks there is a hiking excursion. Of course, I cant do this anymore. Logan, Annie and Katie came down last week and we all went to the Parade of Homes. Is that ever fun!!! I'm not a bit jealous that I don't have all that beautiful stuff myself.
Well, I did lust after a bedroom with a darn cozy fireplace and then looked out the window to a right darn inviting swimming pool. Well this is enough!!! Hope as many as possible can make it to the reunion in Billings in July. It is our turn to sacrifice and take our turn at making the wheels go round many more times than usual. Anyway buck up and make the effort.!!!! from your bossy old sister, mother, grandmother and aunt, love to you all!!!!! Nadean

Logan & Annie 2014

Logan and Annie

Hello Family!
2014 has brought a lot of great memories, and a lot of change to the Cassell family. We have been very blessed this year and have been so grateful to our families for all of the love and support they give us as we fight through challenges and start our lives together.
One of the biggest things that changed this year is where we are living! We moved from our little apartment downtown to Cottonwood Heights with Logan’s grandparents. They have been so good to us, and we love being able to live with them it has been so fun. We live right in between big and little Cottonwood Canyon too so it is very pretty and fun.
Annie has been very busy this year. She is working full time and going to school full time so things get pretty crazy. We try and party every time we get a free minute together because it doesn’t happen very often. Annie changed jobs this year too. She quit her job at Shabby Apple after about a year and a half with the company, and started a new position at Traeger Grills. She is on the marketing team there and is doing very well. It is a stressful job, but she is learning a ton and it is a great foot in the door position for things that she is hoping to do later in her career. Annie is also in her last semester at BYU. GO COUGARS!! She is very excited to finally get her degree that she has worked so hard for.
Logan is continuing to try and improve his health. Things are getting a lot better. He was able to go back to school for fall semester at LDS Business College, and he loved every minute of it. He is in the Business/Entrepreneurship program there and made the Dean’s List his first semester back! Logan is now in his second year working at Golf Anytime, and is also doing some part time work for his dad’s company.
Having two awesome families to do things with has been a blast this year. We were able to go on several awesome trips! With Annie’s family we went on our annual trip to Washington Lake in the Uinta Mountains, and we also went on our annual trip to St. George with them to see a couple plays at Tuacahn. We also took a short trip with Annie’s dad and hiked the slot canyon Buckskin Gultch. With Logan’s Family we got to go to Disneyland, and to Jackson Hole/Greys River for the 4th of July. They all were amazing trips and we are so grateful to our families for letting us tag along.
We also got to go on one trip by ourselves this year. One of Annie’s old college roommates from Washington got married so we took a road trip up to the Seattle area for her wedding. It was a looong car ride, but we just blasted our favorite music and had a great time.
In November Logan’s sister Katie returned from her mission in Tacoma Washington! It was so great to be reunited with her and we are so proud of her. Annie’s brother Jon is still serving his mission in Oklahoma City, but he only has a few months left!
Annie and Logan served in the young men’s and young women’s programs for their church callings this year, and have recently been called to serve in the Nursery/Primary. The callings have been such blessings for us and we love them so much.
That about sums our year up! We hope everyone is doing well and we look forward to seeing you at the reunion!

Love,
Logan and Annie Cassell

Carol & Blair 2014

Carol, Blair, Josh and Jase

  Hi Family!
Hope that everyone is doing well, I am excited to read what everyone has been up to over the last year. Every year I am amazed when it is time to write another newsletter, I don’t know where all the time goes to, but I suppose that is the same for everyone. It has been quite the year for the Lancaster family as I am sure it has been for all of you so enjoy catching up on what we’ve been doing!

Blair & Carol:
We are still enjoying the sun shine and warm weather in St. George, UT. We miss the kids now that they are both living in northern Utah but will absolutely have a hard time ever moving back to the cold winters when we’ve been getting spoiled by the gorgeous weather down here – how I ever managed to live in Wyoming for all those years I will never know, haha. Blair is still doing great working for Lids Team Sports, he travels all over the country, seems like he is flying somewhere at least once a month or so, but he gets to do something he enjoys so it is worth it. I am working away in the hospital and enjoying it. Mom is back in town which is nice to have her company and get the chance to spend time with her.

Josh:
Josh moved this last December to Lehi, UT after meeting the girl he will certainly marry, hopefully sooner than later, haha, her name is Esther and the whole family loves her to death. He is still going to school working towards his computer information technology degree and will be transferring to the U this fall. Look for the invitation to his & Esther’s wedding! J
Jase:
Jaser is still living and thriving in northern Utah as well, he is currently living in Orem, UT with some great roommates. He works a lot at a job he loves and thrives at, he gets to help the developmentally challenged on a daily basis to live better lives. What a rewarding job that must be to go to, and who better to do it than Jase. He is dating as many cute girls as he can, but hasn’t found the right one yet. He keeps busy with basketball, skiing, bowling, golf – and anything else athletic he can.

Well I guess that is all from us I hope to see everyone this year multiple times, and wish you all the best!!!
                  Love,

                                     The Lancaster Family

Kim & Bryan 2014

Bryan and Kim

Hello family!
It’s a cold and windy day here in South Dakota, February 22, and it’s past time to get the Family news letter on it’s way.  I’m thinking that as I get older it might be a good idea for me to make some notes of what actually DID happen in the past year, so I can remember to include them.
I’ll start with Bryan.  First off I have to say what a great husband I have been blessed with.  Bryan is a great cook…he thinks he should have his own cooking show called “In the Kitchen with Bry”  He honestly does most of the cooking during the week and has dinner for his hungry wife when she gets home.  The only down side is I’m getting a little wide in the hips with all the great meals.  We did have a scare this year when he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.  He had surgery in July to remove it and has been doing fine since, although we need to watch it closely for the next few years.  He has tests every 3 months to make sure we have no cancer showing back up.  He was feeling good enough to shoot a bull elk in the Black Hills with his buddy and dear friend Paulie in October.  Over all is was a good year with good crops, excellent pheasant hunting, and good deer hunting as well.  Bryan’s daughter Kresha and her husband Ben, each harvested a deer with in 10 minutes of each other, all on our farm.  Hunting makes Bryan happy and a Happy Kraut is worth having around.   Of course our shared passion is the horses,  which keeps us horse poor, but happy!
I am still working for the TV station in Sioux Falls.  I had my best year there financially, but with that comes more than my fair share of stress.  Time will tell how long I continue.  It takes years to develop a client list and it’s hard for me to hand that over to someone else.  I also worry that I’m a little old to learn an entirely new gig, so I continue on, and probably complain a little more than I should, and pray a lot!
We bought a barrel mare last year with the idea of getting more serious about going to some of the local races and hopefully promote some of our younger horses.  On Mother’s Day just as I was getting the hang of it, she bucked me off between the 2nd and 3rd barrel.  I didn’t break anything, but I was one sore old lady for several months.  Along with hurting my pride, my ribs and back were pretty sore for awhile.  I still like the mare and haven’t completely given up on her, but we’re thinking seriously about breeding her this Spring so time will tell on that.  I’m still looking for a good safe mount that Mandy and I can both ride until some of these younger horses that we have get old enough that we can go on with.  We are expecting 4 colts this Spring., and that helps me get thru these South Dakota winters.  Our first one is due in March so that’s just around the corner.
One of the great joys of my life are Sawyer and Sophia.  Mandy and Chris are doing such a wonderful job raising them.  I am proud of them for making a tough financial decision for Mandy to stay home with them.  I have never seen a harder worker than Chris and I know the sacrifice that they have all made to keep Mandy home.  I can say with all confidence that it has been worth it.
Sawyer is a gregarious little guy, who is kind and sensitive and rough and tough all at the same time.  He loves to dress up as a cowboy somedays, and Spiderman on others.  He has such a great imagination and will tell you with great detail about which horse most recently bucked him off!  Sophia is all girl!  She loves to sing and play and be mischievous.  Her big brown eyes will steal your heart.
Mom and Pam came for a visit in June.  Bryan made sure we had the new deck done in time for us to enjoy.  The time went by so fast and we only got half of what we wanted to do done, but it was so fun for me to have them here.  I can not wait until the next time.  One night that was especially fun was Mexican night.  We were celebrating Pam’s birthday.  I made my shredded beef enchiladas and Pam made her chicken burritos and we had one heck of a celebration!
Bryan and I are planning a trip see Mom and Bob over memorial day.  Bryan loves to fish with Bob and I love to just spend time with Mom, so we are both anxious for May to get here.
I am anxious to read all of your letters and see what your families are up to.
Love to all!  Kim and Bryan

Dear Wonderful Family,
Newsletter time has rolled around again, and I am once again late with my newsletter! Ughh…Sorry!!  We have had another busy year, and as I think back I again wonder where the time went?!  Here is a highlight of what happened this last year in the Williams’ household!
Sawyer and Sophia turned three in January.  I can’t believe how quickly three years has gone by!  They are so much fun and bring so much joy into our lives!  They are usually busy playing dress up.  That is their favorite activity to play at the moment.  Sawyer is constantly changing his clothes from being a farmer, to a cowboy, to a knight in shining armor, to Spider Man, to Superman, to Jake from the Neverland Pirates, to Awesome Guy!  Hard to keep all of his “parts” to all of his “outfits” in place!  Sophia is changing her outfits from one Princess dress to another or from one skirt to another skirt.  Her “parts” include high heels, make-up, jewelry, a magic wand, and a hand held mirror!  Needless to say this is why I HATE laundry and STRUGGLE to keep up with it all the time between those two!!
They continue to LOVE being farm kids!  Sawyer is his father’s son and helps Chris fix things like his excavator and pay loader in the shed.  If he is not there he will be on the tractor helping Chris with planting or harvesting.  Sophia takes after Grandma Kim and I with her love for horses.  She is a brave little turd and even after a little episode with their new pony “Hector” she wasn’t afraid to get right back on!  Thank goodness for that!
They continue to amaze us with how smart they are and the things they learn and pick up. Grandma Kim teases me that I better slow down on what I am teaching them otherwise their Kindergarten teacher will hate me by the time they start Kindergarten! Ha!  I also LOVE the fact that they LOVE each other and have a LOVE for God already at such a young age.  I just heard through the monitor the other night Sophia comforting Sawyer when he was scared.  She told him not to worry because Mommy and Daddy will protect us, and God will protect us and keep us safe too!  He loves us!  Talk about melting a mother’s heart!  Sophia likes to pray at meal time and Sawyer’s little loving and generous heart that he shares to all people is priceless.  This has been altered a tidge bit by their new awareness of strangers.  Now all we hear when we are out and about and in not quiet voices might I add is “Is that a stranger Mommy?  Is he a nice stranger or a naughty stranger Mommy?”  Why did I think it was necessary to teach them about strangers as three year olds?  They have truly blessed our lives, and we love them with all of our hearts!
Chris and I were able to go last May on vacation to the Bahamas with a group called Love Song Couple’s Getaway.  We had so much fun enjoying the beautiful ocean and sights of the Atlantis.  The main thing we did while we were there was listen to a couple different Christian pastors/speakers and go to three different concerts put on by popular Christian singers.  We had so much fun and enjoyed our time together.  Hard to believe that this coming June we will celebrate our ten year anniversary!
This last summer Grandma Sharon and Aunt Pam traveled to South Dakota in June.  We had so much fun getting to play, ride horse, make pasties, and just catch up.  Wish we didn’t live so far away from them all but we do cherish every time we get to spend together! Hopefully we will get to see them this summer as well.
Chris is still working at Trail King designing the big specialized trailers.  He still loves being outside the most working on one of his many projects and of course farming.  This last summer he was able to drum up some business with his excavator that he had fixed the year before.  We hope that this sideline business continues to do well for him this summer as well!  As busy as he is, he is an amazing dad and husband, and he makes time to spend with his family first!
I still love staying at home with the kids!  I am so thankful that we are able to find a way for me to do this as the years are just flying by and pretty soon they will be starting Kindergarten!  The plan is for me to go back to teaching once the kids are old enough to start school.  As for now, I am still selling with my Celebrating Home business.  I am in my second year now.  It is nice to be able to get out of the house and have some adult conversation every once in a while. Ha!
Well, we hope this letter finds each of you in good health, and we wish you much happiness this coming year.  We hope to get out to the family reunion one of these years.  We miss you all, and we will love for you to meet Sawyer and Sophia!  If anyone is ever in South Dakota, make sure to give us a call!

                                                                        Love,
Chris, Mandy, Sawyer, and Sophia Williams

Kenny & Myrna 2014

Kenny and Myrna
Dear Family,

This has been quite an eventful year for us. We are grateful for the restoration of our health, our friends and our loved ones.  Starting last December, I has a pain in my abdomen that I thought was kidney stones.  After being in the hospital for three weeks, I was operated on for a leaking bowel. About a foot of my intestine was removed. The doctors said it would be a year for me to recover.  I tried to prove them wrong but they were right, of course!

In February we were able to finalize on the little house and five acres next door. While I was convalescing, Myrna would fill large garbage sacks of trash from the house and put in the garbage dumpster.  She carried 30+ sacks of trash from that house!  MaryLynn and Gary and their family came to help with demolition of some walls we felt needed to be removed. Landon was having so much fun using the hammer on the dry wall of the wall being removed, that he continued demolishing other walls!  We had to put a big "WHOA" on him!  When we completed all the clean-up and "destruction" we could do, we hired a young man to finish the work. He did a great job and now the house has set vacant since last June.  One day we want to rent, the next, we want to sell and the third, we don't know what we want!  That has been a major project but we do need to move on with this beautiful little home.

We took a 3,000 mile road trip in our little red bug. The first leg of the trip was the family reunion at Bear Lake. Little planning went into our trip because we didn't think we could go until the last minute. Thanks to Newell and others, we were able to stay in comfort in one of the little cabins. Thank you, Ray, Becky and family for another great family reunion!

On our way to Denver on I80 we got between eighteen wheelers on each side and one in front. It was rather scary and Ken said, "If we survive this, I am trading this damn thing off at the next town!"  (We survived and still have the little red bug!)

When Ken got sick last year, we disbanded the petting zoo and are only doing weddings, stage coach and covered wagon rides. Jeff Mueller, a friend from Iowa, came out in October and has helped with all there is to keep this business running.  He is a great friend and we appreciate all the help he gives us.   The past two years we have done 80 weddings each year and this year we will do over 100. The business keeps growing and getting bigger all around.  We appreciate Harold and Katie Christ and The Windmill Winery for making us a part of the Big Barn and Lake House weddings.
We are looking forward to seeing all of you at the Family Reunion in Billings this summer.  Keep smiling!

Ken and Myrna

Kelly & Sandra 2014

Kelly and Sandra
Hello Family,
It's been a pretty simple year for 2014. Still here in Henderson, NV. Except for Brooke, she's in LA, CA where she's doing well working for AT&T. Proud of her and how well she does. Very responsible, and a very hard worker. We've been down a couple of times to see her and really enjoyed sleeping on her floor…haha. She comes and visits when she can, and we really miss her when she leaves. As always she keeps us smiling and laughing at her great sense of humor. Tanner is still living at home (but not for long). He's been working for Discount Tire company for the past few years and done well there. He recently started a new job working for a company that designs, and manufactures rebar bending machines. Full time job and benefits. For now that'll have to do until he can get on with a fire department. He tested this last year and past both the written and physical tests w/ flying colors. He also recently just got engaged and will be getting married in May. Things haven't really changed for Sandra and I... still doing the same thing. It was good to see most of you at the reunion.
