We all went on hikes together, once to Garden Canyon and saw the pictographs (Indian Sketches on the sides of the cliffs).  The other hike was to Coronado National Memorial where we had a nice picnic and saw some trails where C.J. tracks and chases the illegal aliens up and down the mountains.  We also enjoyed going out to eat and shopping in Bisbee, and shooting laser guns at the park next to C.J.’s home.  We had fun riding C.J.’s motorcycle.  We played basketball and had lots of good food.  Lance had to stay in Idaho and work around the clock Dr. Shifts.    We returned home December 27.  The next day, we took Damien to the train station in Truckee, and Camille picked him up in Salt Lake, and Damien lived with Camille and Lance for about a month, then enlisted and left to serve in the United States Army on January 28, 2018.

CJ & Laurie
Hello Humpherys Family,

This past year was perhaps one of the most fun we have had as a family together. During the summer we took two awesome trips, to Spain and to Hawaii. In July, Porter, Laurie, and I traveled back to the land of my mission. It was great to see it again 16 years later. We visited Madrid and Barcelona, and swam in the Mediterranean, the Atlantic, and even the Cantabrian Sea. We witnessed bull fights, festivals, parades, and endless amounts of the tastiest food in the world. I even decided to run with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain. That was pretty scary, but I'm glad I did it. Porter loved Spain and was able to go on a tour of Barcelona's soccer stadium, the soccer mecca of the world. He wants to go back someday. Maybe on a mission! During fall break we took the whole family to Oahu, Hawaii as a surprise vacation. We took the kids to the airport and they had no idea where we were going until we got in line for the plane. In Hawaii we went to Laie and experienced the Polynesian Cultural Center, BYU Hawaii, and saw the temple. We swam in the ocean at Waimea, Waikiki, and found some sea turtles at Turtle Bay. Jameson and I ate more than our fair share of food truck shrimp. It was so nice to be in such a warm, beautiful place. This past year went really well for our family as well. I feel very blessed with all the successes and experiences we have had.

CJ- Besides the Spain trip that I have always been dreaming of, I had a fantastic year. I continued most of the year working on the Mountain Team with the Border Patrol. I wouldn't trade this job for any other. My new calling at church is 2nd counselor in the Sunday School presidency. I just had Lasik surgery on my eyes and am so glad I finally did it. What a relief to not have contacts and glasses anymore.

Laurie- loved Spain maybe even more than I did. Im so glad I was able to share with her the country where I served my mission. Laurie is still working as a preschool aide, and is always busy with children's activities. She has been called to the Young Women as a Mia Maid advisor in church. She has also started again with earning her degree in Early Childhood Education. She is on the PTO board at the kids elementary school as well. I don't think she ever has much down time to herself.

Mercy- Went with some classmates this year on a week long trip to Washington D.C. She was able to have so many awesome educational and fun experiences with her friends, and learn so much of our country's history. Mercy still does honors marching band, and will be trying out in a few months for the high school marching band playing trumpet. She is an amazing student and continually makes the principal's list and is a member of National Junior Honor Society. She is excited for high school next year, with her goal of attending BYU not too far away. Mercy and Laurie also got to participate in the Tucson Temple Cultural Celebration in August, it was one of the most incredible things they've ever gotten to do. Mercy got to see President Uchtdorf and she said the celebration really cemented her decision to serve a mission when she's 19.

Porter- Porter is a phenomenal student-athlete. Like his sister, he almost always gets straight A's. This is really impressive to me since he plays about 4 hours of soccer a day. He is on a travel soccer team still, and we go to Tucson almost every other weekend for his tournaments. He was also one of only two 6th graders to make the middle school team as well, so he juggles two practices a day, along with conditioning and weekend games. Porter also did track for the first time last spring and really liked it. He is getting so big, and I think will soon pass the whole family up in height. Porter was also recently ordained a deacon, and continues on with Boy Scouts.

Jameson- Is still our most independent child. He is not one for sports, but is one of the smartest 10 year olds I can think of. I am always amazed at the grownup conversations/ideas he comes up with. He is a student of science, and anything to do with plants/animals. He is also an expert at any video game. He will learn and beat any video game we buy him in just a short amount of time. He also is a principal list student and wants to be an entomologist when he is older. Jameson scored "Above Mastery" on a state reading and literature test this year. His teacher told us that she had never seen anyone score on this level in all her years of teaching.

Quinn- Is still our baby princess. She is almost 7 years old now, and continues to excel in dance. She also plays soccer and is pretty good at that too. Like her siblings, she seems to have a knack for getting good grades. She still wants to be an actual princess when she grows up, and loves to dress in beautiful clothes. She takes a long time to get ready in the morning because she is always so particular about what she wears, making sure that it matches, and that her hair is good so kids won't think she has "messy hair".

We love everyone so much and are sad we live so far away from everyone. That just makes it even better when we actually get to see you! Have a great 2018!!   - CJ & Laurie

Memories Of The Year 2016
From The Humpherys Family
February 24, 2017
Nevada City, California

Thank you Kim and Mandy for this year’s Humpherys Herald Family Newsletter!  Thank you for having us send in old pictures.  I dug up all the old pictures I could find and we are looking forward to seeing all the pictures everyone sends in for the newsletter.

Here are some memories from 2016--
On Thursday, March 24, Damien, Mom and I left at 6:15 AM and headed for Henderson, Nevada, which would be our first family stop to visit Kelly and Sandra and see where they live.  We arrived at about 4:30 PM.  Tanner and Teesha came over and visited, and then we all headed for a buffet at a Casino.  It was nice food and we had a nice visit.  Then we headed for Nadean's new home in Washington, Utah, near St. George. She has a very nice home. We arrived at about 10:30 PM.  Camille had already arrived at Nadean's about an hour earlier from South Jordan, Utah.  We had a nice visit, and then, the next morning Damien, Camille, Mom, and I headed for Zion's National Park, about 40 minutes from Nadean's.  It was Damien, Mom, and I first time there.  The four of us caught a shuttle bus to the trail head of Angels Landing, and we hiked two miles up and two miles back.  The views were incredible. Newell was out of shape and barely made it up and back.  Then we headed for Nadean's home, where she had and amazing lasagna dinner with green salad, and jello salad waiting for us.  Then, we all headed over to Carol and Blair's new home, about 15 minutes away.  They have a beautiful home, also.  We had a very nice visit, then came back to Nadean's home.  The next morning, Saturday, we headed to UTV Adventure Tours, where we rode 4 wheeler Razor's up and down steep rocks, and up and down steep sand dunes.  This was a blast and a lot of fun for 2 hours.  Then Mom and I followed Damien and Camille in her car back to South Jordan, where we arrived about 5:45 PM.  Camille showed us her new Harley Davidson motorcycle.  I rode it quite a bit alone, and then I took Mom for a ride and also Damien for a ride.  It was a lot of fun.  Wow, that motorcycle has a lot of power!
Damien stayed the night with Camille Saturday night, and Mom and I stayed overnight with Ray and Becky.  Then, the next morning, Sunday, Mom and I followed Camille, Lance and Damien, in Lance's car from South Jordan, to Spanish Fork, where we attended Scott and Meretta's missionary farewell and Easter Sunday program.  They gave great talks, and there were some amazing musical numbers.  Then we all headed around the block to Scott and Meretta's home for a big Easter feast.  We got acquainted with most of Lance's siblings and their spouses.  Lance has a wonderful family.  I hope Camille marries into that wonderful family.  I think Lance is an amazing man, also.
Then, we headed back to Ray and Becky's home, where another amazing dinner was waiting for us.  After dinner, and a nice visit, Lance had to head back to Pocatello, to be back to work at 5:00 AM Monday morning.  Mom, Damien, and I left Monday morning at about 8:00 AM for California.  It was blowing, raining, and snowing almost the entire trip.  We arrived home at about 5:30 PM, quite exhausted.  All in all, it was a wonderful trip.
(2016) THE NEWELL AND SALLY HUMPHERYS 12THANNUAL FAMILY REUNION CONSISTED OF ALL GETTING TOGETHER FOUR TIMES DURING THE YEAR In-- Bear Lake, Idaho, Pocatello, Idaho,  Salt Lake City, Utah, and Nevada City, California
In July we all met at a vacation rental next to my cousin Clark Stock’s home in Fish Haven, Idaho on the shores of Bear Lake.
We all had a wonderful time on the Jet Ski’s. We also went shooting up Fish Haven Canyon with C.J.  That was a lot of fun.  The beach was just 100 yards or so from our rental house.  We played games, had lots of good food and fun together.  This trip consisted of Mom, Damien and I, Camille and Lance, C.J, Laurie, Mercy, Porter, Jameson, and Quinn.  Jim and Stacy, and Katie and Ty also came the last day.  Then we all headed to Pocatello, but we first stopped in Paris Idaho, and spent time at the Paris Tabernacle and learned about our Great Grandfather Charles C. Rich. Then, on to Pocatello, where Florence and Larry hosted a very nice reunion at the Park in Pocatello where there was great food, swimming and visiting.
Friday Morning, September 30th, 2016 was a very special day.  Camille Humpherys and Lance Adams were married in the Salt Lake Temple.  Then we had a nice Luncheon at a nearby LDS Chapel that went very nice except for the Fire Alarms going off.  The delicious lunch, slide show, and comments about Camille and Lance made up for the alarms going off.  Thanks to Elliott for saving the day and finding a way to turn the alarms off.  Then that night, there was an amazing reception at the Old Meeting House.  Camille and Lance sang together and danced together. Delicious crepes and food and drinks and music and dancing.   It was a great evening with great support from all the Humpherys and Adams relatives and friends in the Utah and Idaho area.
Christmas, 2016, we were all together again here in Nevada City.  We went to the Nevada Theatre together and saw “Scrooge”.  What made Christmas even more special this year is that Uncle Ken and Aunt Myrna were here to spend it with us.  We had our tradition of Fondue on Christmas Eve.  We also had our annual tradition of Gingerbread House Decorating Competitions.
Damien is playing Varsity Volleyball this year. He also played club volleyball.   Damien still loves mountain biking and he is going to be 18 on March 11!! Damien is planning to go on a mission for two years.  He hopes to leave in August, so he can attend one more family reunion first. Newell is now serving as the Young Men President and enjoys spending even more time with Damien before he graduates from High School. Sally still teaches part time for the High School District.   She is an awesome teacher, and goes the extra mile with each student.  She also spends hours keeping Newell and Damien on the right track! Sally also sings in a Country Rock band, is still the Stake Music Chairman and sings in Music In The Mountains, just to list a few. We are so grateful to have a family.  We love each and every one of you and look forward to reading all of your news.  The year 2016 was filled with blessings and trials. Each year keeps flying by.  We are grateful for all our blessings.  We hope to see each of you soon, “if the Good Lord is willing, and the creek doesn’t rise”  perhaps at the next reunion in good ole Etna, Wyoming!!!!!!!!!!!!
WITH LOVE FROM NEWELL,SALLY, AND DAMIEN HUMPHERYS

CJ & Laurie 2016

Hello Humpherys Family,

I'll start this off by letting everyone know that we will not be able to come to the reunion this year. We are sad that we have to miss it. This year Laurie, Porter and I will be traveling to Spain for a two week vacation to visit Madrid, Barcelona, and the area I served a mission in 16 years ago! We will keep you all updated with lots of pictures and videos. We will most definitely try to make it again the following year.

This last year was a travel-filled year for our family. In February, I flew to California to see Damien receive his Eagle Scout Award. We are so proud of him. In July we took our biggest road trip. Starting in Arizona we travelled to Provo to visit BYU and friends and family. From Provo we headed towards Bear Lake, stopping to go to Lagoon, and then fly fish in the Logan River and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. At Bear Lake we did horseback riding, rented Razors, rode dirt bikes and jet skis, and stayed in a cabin at Bear Lake for a few days. We had such a fun time with Newell, Sally, Damien, Camille, and Lance. After Bear Lake we headed to the reunion in Idaho. It was really fun to see all the cousins again. Our kids can't stop talking about playing with their cousins. They love them so much. In September, Laurie and I got to go to the BYU-Arizona football game in Phoenix. We met up with Jimmy and Stacey and had such a blast with them! In October, Camille got married and we traveled from Arizona to Utah again! Camille's wedding was fantastic, and we had such a fun time. We all love Lance, and are glad he is part of the family. In December we traveled all the way to California for Christmas. We love to head home for the holidays, but are definitely tired of driving this year!

A little about each of us:

CJ- I bought a new motorcycle this year, and I love going on rides in the beautiful Arizona weather. Its such a blast. I still work for the Border Patrol-going on 11 years now. Im part of the Mountain Team at my station, and frequently encounter all sorts of wildlife. Although I haven't seen it yet, our trail cameras have identified one of only two known jaguars in the whole United States! I am still the scout cub master and love my calling. I play on a basketball and soccer team in the military league here at Fort Huachuca. My free time is spent shooting guns, riding motorcycles, and playing with the kids.

Laurie- Is still a preschool aide here in town, and she is always busy on the school PTO board. She has just been recently called as a Mia Maid advisor, and really is excited about it! Laurie stays extremely busy shuttling all the kids to all their activities everyday. In her free time, Laurie likes to sleep, because there is not much of that going on during the week.

Mercy- Excels in school. She is a member of National Junior Honor Society, Builders Club, and plays trumpet in her middle school symphonic band. She is really mature for her age, and always surprises us with how smart she is. She turns 13 this year, and we are definitely nervous about having our first teenager! Mercy takes trumpet and yoga lessons every week as well.

Porter- Is the athlete of the family. He also does very well academically, but his heart is in soccer. He plays on the city travel league team, and competes in big tournaments in Tucson and Phoenix year round. He just made the middle school track team as a 5th grader, and will be competing in the hurdles and long jump against kids 3 years older than him. He is excited but also a little nervous about that. He turns 12 this year, and is really excited to go to Spain with Laurie and I.

Jameson- Turns 10 this year. He loves Science. He is always doing experiments around the house, and is part of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) scouts. He is also an expert video gamer. He does things on a computer I didn't even know were possible as an adult. Im afraid to leave him alone near a computer for fear he could hack something!

Quinn- Our baby just turned 6. She is the princess of the family, always dressing up and doing makeup and hair. She takes dance lessons every week, but still loves to go on motorcycle rides with her dad.

We miss you all,

Love,
CJ, Laurie, Mercy, Porter, Jameson, Quinn

Memories Of The Year 2015
From The Humpherys Family
February 28, 2016
Nevada City, California

Thanks so much to Curt for this year’s Humpherys Herald Family Newsletter!

Curt asked that we include a favorite memory from one of the past reunions or get-togethers over the years.  This is not necessarily a favorite memory, but it was a traumatic memory  that I will never forget.  The reunion was at the Etna Church, and it was when Shawn accidentally almost cut his arm off falling into the window at the  back of the Etna Church Building... Gerald and Tena were attending a funeral, I think, in Bedford, when this happened.  I was asked to let them know about it, so I drove from Etna to Bedford breaking all speed limits, ran into the church and found Gerald and Tena, and let them know what had happened.  As I remember,  Shawn was life-flighted by helicopter, or airplane to Salt Lake City.  During the flight, Shawn almost died because of loss of blood, if my memory is correct.  Everyone was  praying and pleading to Father In Heaven that day that Shawn would live and recover and that his arm would be OK.  It brings me to tears today just thinking about it.  Anyway, I know I probably left out a lot of details that others remember better, but I just know how miraculous his recovery was and how our prayers were answered.

The following are some good memories our family had together in 2015—
We held our11th Annual Newell and Sally Humpherys Family Reunion-- and here are the events we had fun doing--
Thursday, July 2, 2015--Camille arrived at about 11:30 PM, with her friend Tiffany and Jordan.  They and Damien swam in the pool and played water basketball until about midnight.
Friday, July 3-- We went wakeboarding and tubing at Scotts Flat Lake in the morning, then Camille, Tiffany, Jordan and Damien went to the river.  They returned from having a good time at the river just before C.J., Laurie, Mercy, Porter Jameson, and Quinn arrived from Arizona.  We all then went to Music in The Mountains--Picnic and the Pops-- Patriotic Performance at the Fairgrounds. Mom sang in the chorus-- the chorus and the orchestra were both very inspiring.
Saturday, July 4, 2015, We started out the day with a Patriotic Devotional on the back deck.  Mom and Camille sang the National Anthem duet, then Porter led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.   Then, Newell  honored Grandpa Humpherys and others that have fought for our country, by telling the story about Grandpa Humpherys leaving his wife and four children at home and volunteering to serve in the United States Army to fight for our Freedoms at age 35.  We then all sang America The Beautiful, verse one and verse three-- with the emphasis on verse three-- "O beautiful for heroes proved In liberating strife,Who more than self their country loved,
And mercy more than life!
America! America! May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness,
And ev’ry gain divine!  Newell gave an emotional tribute to Dean Gardner Humpherys and to Neva Clark Humpherys for her support of her husband.  Grandpa Dean Humpherys was one who definitely loved his country more than self.
Then Tiffany said the prayer and blessing on the food. This was an amazing  Fourth of July Breakfast--Eggs, Bacon, Juice (Newell), Waffles and variety of fresh fruit (Mom) Crepes (Camille)--Everyone pitched in and helped.  Then, we all piled in the 1969 Green Chevy Truck and went down the rutty, bumpy, dirt road that led to the river at the end of Jones Bar Road.  We all had a fun time swimming in the river. Then, we came back to the house and had a nice barbeque dinner before heading over to the Fairgrounds for the fireworks show.  We finally got out of the Fairgrounds traffic jam and got home and went to bed by about midnight.
Sunday, July 5--Camille and Tiffany and Jordan left for Utah about 8:15 AM, and we went to church with C.J. and Laurie and family and enjoyed a nice Sabbath Day together.
Monday, July 6-- C.J. and Laurie and family and Mom and I and Damien had a nice day at Lake Tahoe at Sugar Pine Point where the little ones swam and searched for crawdads and we all enjoyed the beautiful lake.
Tuesday, July 7-- We all enjoyed boating and tubing and wakeboarding at Scotts Flat Lake, had a nice lunch on the lake shore, and later picked blackberries and we all went to 49er Fun Park where we all rode the mini race cars and raced each other around the track, which was a lot of fun.
Wednesday, July 8-- We had breakfast, then went to Bishop Biggs home and enjoyed his zip line, rope swing and e-walk, and canoeing, then we went to Lake Valley Reservoir, had lunch at the picnic table, but it was too cold to swim, so we came home and had some of Mom's delicious blackberry pie.
Thursday, July 9-- C.J., Laurie and the grandkids left for Arizona about  9:30 AM or so.... We will miss them all so much and we had a lot of fun together.  We wish C.J., Laurie and the grandkids,  and Camille could come home more often.
I really enjoyed my time riding from Pocatello to Billings with Nadean, Florence and Larry to attend the 2015 family reunion later in July. We had a very nice visit up and back, and the reunion was wonderful at Jan and John's home, and at the swimming recreation center.  The food was great and it was great to see Curt and Chelsea and their families.  Newell also got to attend his 40th High School Class Reunion in Afton the first weekend of August.  He stayed overnight with Nadean on Friday and the reunion was on Saturday.  It was great to see a lot of good friends from high school days.
In October, Mom, Dad, and Damien flew to Arizona, and attended Jameson's Baptism.
Camille and her friend Lance also drove from Utah and Idaho to be there.  We all had fun riding C.J.'s motorcyles.  I guess we all got the attention of the neighbors, because Damien was pulled over by a police car.  The officer said a neighbor complained, so that was the end of our fun on the motorcycles.  Anyway, it was an enjoyable trip.

I am so grateful to have a family.  I love each and every one.  The year 2015 was another challenging year, and a year filled to overflowing with many blessings.  Sally does so much for all of us.  She is our anchor.  Don't know what we would do without her.
Damien played on the Varsity basketball and volleyball teams this year. He also played club volleyball.  He attended EFY and BYU Volleyball camp last summer.     Damien still loves mountain biking and he just got his driver license on January 22nd.  Damien just became an Eagle Scout on February 1st, 2016.  We just attended his Eagle Scout Court Of Honor, yesterday, Saturday, February 27, here at the church in Nevada City.  Three other Eagle Scouts were honored, also.  Camille and Lance drove out to be here.  Camille left South Jordan and met Lance (who drove from Pocatello) in Wells, Nevada.   Then they drove out here to Nevada City together in Lance's car.  C.J. flew here from Arizona and was one of the guest speakers.  He presented Damien with the United States Flag that was flown over The United States Capitol on February 1, 2106.  C.J. gave an amazing speech, and received many compliments.  Damien also gave his Eagle Scout Acceptance Speech, and also received many compliments.  Sally sang "God Bless America" right after the posting of the colors and the Pledge Of Allegiance. There was a live Eagle present that was brought in from U.C. Davis.  It was an amazing Court Of Honor.  Many people said it was the best Eagle Scout Court of Honor they have ever attended.  Saturday evening, Camille, Lance, C.J., and Damien and Mom rode bikes from our home to the South Fork of the Yuba River.  Then they hiked up the river, while Mom watched the bikes.  Then Newell picked them all up, and we came home and had a nice lasagna dinner.

Newell still enjoys being the gospel doctrine teacher for Sunday School.  Sally still teaches part time for the High School District.   She is an awesome teacher, and goes the extra mile with each student.  She also spends hours each week helping Damien with his homework.
Sally recently was in charge of a dance at our local ward building that featured a live band playing 50's and 60's music.  Sally was a guest singer and sang songs such as Blue Bayou, from Linda Ronstadt.  She enjoys her calling as Ward Choir Director, and Stake Music Chairman.
Each year continues to fly by.  We are grateful for all our blessings. We hope to see each of you soon, perhaps at the next reunion in Pocatello, Idaho!

WITH LOVE FROM NEWELL,SALLY, AND DAMIEN HUMPHERYS

CJ & Laurie 2015

Hey Curt, thanks for doing this!

We're so excited to see everyone for the reunion in Idaho this summer! We were all sad to miss the reunion in 2015 and sure miss seeing everyone. We did our fair share of traveling in 2015. We took the kids camping at the Grand Canyon after school got out and had an amazing time. We've lived in Arizona almost 10 years and we figured it was about time we saw the sights. Laurie and I also got to ditch the kids for a week while we went to Niagara Falls and Toronto. We saw the Maple Leafs home opener, the Blue Jays in a playoff game, we went up the CN Tower and walked on a glass floor 113 floors high, went on the Hornblower right under the Niagara Falls, and got to see where Laurie grew up. A few days after getting home from Toronto, we packed up the kids for fall break at Disneyland and the beach.
Mercy is 11.5 going on 20, at least she seems to think so. She's in 6th grade and doing great at school. She's in honors band for trumpet and decided she wanted to learn percussion this year as well. Mercy is part of the Heroes Club at school, basically like a prefect in the Harry Potter books, responsible for helping keep the peace and helping the younger students. She played soccer this fall, and loved it so much that in December Laurie and Mercy went to Phoenix to watch the US Womens Soccer team play China. She earned her Faith in God award at church and is looking forward to becoming a Beehive in August.
Porter is 10 and usually can be found with a soccer ball and Pokemon cards (the bane of Laurie's existence). He's a good student no matter how much he claims he hates school, and is an easy-going kid that gets along with everyone. Porter's on a travel soccer team that plays in tournaments about once a month, which works great for us because then we have a reason to be in Tucson and near Costco. He's working on his Webelos now in Cub Scouts.
Jameson is 8 and was baptized in November. He's thrilled to be a Wolf Cub Scout now, since most of his good friends are LDS they're in the same pack and it's like free playtime to him. Jamie played soccer this fall and enjoyed it much more than he tried to let on. He's also an emergency sub for Porter's travel team, but Laurie emphasizes emergency use only for him. He'd much rather be digging in the ground than running on it.
Quinn turns 5 in March and will start kindergarten in August. She's in prekindergarten class now and is thriving. She had a hard time adjusting to Laurie as a teacher's aide and not mom, but she's happy with her there now. Quinn takes dance and loves it, like all pink princess loving girls do. She also played soccer this fall (do you see a trend here?) and loved it, especially playing tag on the field with her best friend instead of actually chasing the ball, but at least she didn't scream and cry, right?
I will have been working for the Border Patrol for 10 years when July hits. Seems like yesterday that we moved here, but time flies and all. Jameson and I have gotten into dirt bikes, now Laurie has even less space in the garage but they're sure fun. I wiped out on my dirt bike and ended up dislocating my thumb and tearing my ligaments, I had to work light duty for two months while it healed up. Laurie calls that karma but I say it was worth it. I've also been playing rec ball and my team came in second place in our playoffs. The refs told us that logistically we shouldn't have made it that far with our old school style of play. Now that basketball is over, I joined the Border Patrol soccer team. I'm still Cub Master and collect coins and other than that, I'm super boring.
Laurie started working at the preschool that Quinn goes to. It's only 4 hours a day, 4 days a week but she sure seems tired after dealing with 16 preschoolers. She's also still on the PTO and loves to help out in the kids classrooms. She's the Wolf Den Leader at church and gets a kick out of working with Jameson and the other Wolf Scouts. Somehow Laurie survived the soccer season and my basketball season, and thinks she's earned a girls only trip to Disneyland. Or maybe just a weekend at a hotel so she can just sleep for 24 hours straight.

Well for the other part- Here is one of my fondest memories.
I remember my favorite campout ever was the horse pack trip that uncle Gerald and Shawn and Shane took me on. I think it was Palisades Lake. I remember how good Gerald's cooking was, how great the fishing was, and I remember it was the coldest camping I've ever done, I had to cuddle Shawn and Shane to stay warm at night. I remember being really nervous riding a horse for my first pack trip.

Camille 2015

March 17, 2016--News from Camille:

Dear Family,
January--2015-- I had just barely applied to a show called "Alt For Norge" (All For Norway) and I was waiting to hear back to see if I got accepted. This show is a show where Norwegian Americans with Norwegian descent who have never been to Norway, come to Norway for the first time and compete in the Norwegian cultural challenges for the chance to meet their living relatives.

February- I heard back from reality tv show. They let me know I had been passed on to the next step for an in person interview with the directors.  They flew me to Chicago to interview.  I found out a few days later that I had made it on to the show and would leave April 23.

March - I took a road trip to Nevada City for Damien's 16th birthday.  We also did a Canyonerring trip to Blue John canyon. This canyon is where that guy chopped his arm off because it got stuck.

April- Some friends and I went sky diving above canyonlands in Moab.  We also went on a Canyonerring trip in Zion national park and did Lodge canyon and Hidden canyon. On April 23 I left for Norway. We stayed in New Jersey first and met some crew members and all of the cast.

May - I spent two weeks in Norway. We spent time in Lofoten, Telemark, Gaustatopen, and Oslo. We would film all day long. We learned to speak a little bit of Norwegian, there were many challenges in teams, we ate incredible Norwegian food, and learned tons about the Norwegian culture.  After I came back from Norway I went back to Nevada city and then went on a cruise to Alaska with my now current boyfriend Lance.

June- I went canyonerring again with some friends.
July- I took a trip to Nevada City to hang out with my family and later in the month did a hike through the narrows in Zion.

August- I went to Bear Lake and Nevada city for a visit.

September- I went to Alaska to visit Sherrie and Brent ! This was amazing. We went shrimpin for Alaskan prawns, saw the town, saw bears, went out on the ocean, ate amazing food, and went beach combing. This was such a fun trip! Everyone should visit them if you get the chance!

October - I went to Nashville for a trade show for work and also got promoted to work on the direct client sales team.

November - I took a road trip with Lance to Sierra vista for Jameson's baptism.  I also went to Nevada City for thanksgiving.

December - I went to Nevada city for Christmas and Lance was able to come out for a couple days so that was really fun.

Love to all,
Camille

Memories Of The Year 2014
From The Humpherys Family
February 22,2015
Nevada City, California

Thanks so much to Melanie for this year’s Humpherys Herald  Family Newsletter!

The following are some good memories we had together in 2014—

10th Annual Newell and Sally Humpherys Family Reunion
AND 34th Annual Dean and Neva Humpherys Family Reunion--2014--

Thursday--July 3--Attended Music in the Mountains Patriotic Picnic in the Pops Concert
Damien, Mom and Dad left at about 11:40 P.M. and we traveled all night and spent time on
Friday, July 4 with Camille, we had fun riding her motorcycle and giving the grandkids rides on her motorcycle.  We attended Stadium of Fire at LaVell Edwards Stadium with Camille and C.J. and his family and we stayed at Super 8 Motel.
Saturday,July 5, we had lunch with Camille at her home--delicious fajitas.  Saturday night we all stayed at the Plaza Hotel next to Temple Square.
Sunday, July 6, we attended Music and the Spoken Word at the Conference Center, saw Mitt Romney, went to Sacrament Meeting with Uncle Ray and Aunt Becky, and we stayed at Uncle Ray and Aunt Becky's Sunday night.
Monday, July 7, we had fun on two Jet Ski's at Utah Lake with Camille.  Camille's friend let us use his Jet Ski's. Then we enjoyed food at the"Food Truck's" in Orem to finish our family activity.
Tuesday, July 8, we enjoyed time together at Deer Creek Lake, Vivian Park, and another park in Orem.
Wednesday, July 9, Newell did some work at the Mt. Timpanogos Temple, Sally and Damien hiked to The Timp Caves, and we all went to the South Jordan Rec Center and enjoyed swimming together.
Thursday, July 10, We all (Sally and I, Damien and Camille, and C.J., Laurie, Mercy, Porter, Jameson, and Quinn and Aunt Becky) left Uncle Ray and Aunt Becky's home --where we had been staying Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights-- and we all headed for Bear Lake.  We stopped first at Lisa and Jim's and got to say hi to Jim and Allison their daughter, who could not make it to the reunion in Bear Lake because of Allison's swim meet.  Then we stopped by Costco, then arrived in Garden City, Utah at the KOA campground, where all cousins and others enjoyed swimming, ice cream and snow cones, then a delicious dinner together that night.  The cabin we stayed in was very nice, with kitchen, and bathroom.  Damien slept one night outside in his hammock.
Friday, July 11, Sally and I and Uncle Ray, Uncle Gerald, Uncle Kenny, Aunt Myrna, and others, went to the cemetery in Paris, Idaho, and saw Great Grandpa Apostle Charles C. Rich and his wives gravesites.  That was a special experience.  Friday was an overcast, cool day, so no one spent much time at the lake, but we got in a lot of visiting and had great food  for lunch and dinner, and enjoyed various games--gunny sack races, tug of war, etc.
Saturday, July 12, Most all the families spent 4 or 5 hours at the Bear Lake North Shore--Amazing stretch of sand--perfect shallow water for little kids.  It was one of the best if not the best lake beach we have ever been on.  Cousin Jimmy barbequed hot dogs for everyone.  We all had a great time swimming.  Our immediate family left about 4 PM and headed for Logan, Utah, checked in to the Best Western Hotel, and Mom and Camille, and Damien and C.J. and Laurie went to see Les Miserables, while Dad baby sat Mercy, Porter, Jameson, and Quinn.
Sunday, July 13, We took Camille and Damien to Uncle Ray and Aunt Becky's home where Camille had her Subaru parked.  Camille took Damien to Provo, where he checked in to EFY (Monday morning).  Mom and I left for California and arrived home at about 8:40 in the evening.

These two combined Reunions (our own immediate family, and the larger Dean and Neva Family Reunion) were definitely some of the funnest reunions ever!
In October, Mom, Dad, and Damien spent the week of October break from school with C.J., Laurie, Mercy, Porter, Jameson, and Quinn at their home in Arizona. C.J. first picked us up at the Phoenix airport, and we spent the first night with Uncle Kenny and Aunt Myrna. We appreciated the wonderful hospitality, homemade food, goat milk, carrot juice, homemade cookies, homemade bread... the list goes on and on.  We were treated like royalty.  It was so good to visit.  Then on to C.J. and Laurie's home in Sierra Vista.  We had a wonderful time there, great food, watching Mercy's ballet, Porter's soccer and basketball and spending time with all grandkids at the park, and visiting the apple orchard, etc.
Following is a schedule C.J. sent us which we ended up adjusting just a little.  Richard and Valerie, were so kind to let us stay with them.

I am so grateful to have a family.  I love each and every one.  The year 2014 was probably the hardest year we have ever gone through as a family.  With God's help we made it, and we continue to rely on Him for our strength to go on.  I hope we can make it through both the good and bad times.   Sally does so much for all of us.  She is our anchor.  Don't know what we would do without her.
Damien played on the Junior Varsity soccer and  basketball teams this year.     Damien still loves mountain biking and he will soon be getting his driver license.
Newell enjoys being the gospel doctrine teacher for Sunday School.
Sally still teaches part time for the High School District.   She is an awesome teacher, and goes the extra mile with each student.  She also spends hours each week helping Damien with his homework.
Sally enjoys her calling as Ward Choir Director and also has a new calling as the Stake Music Chairman.
Each year continues to go by too fast.  We are grateful for all our blessings. We hope to see each of you soon, perhaps at the next reunion!
WITH LOVE FROM NEWELL,SALLY, AND DAMIEN HUMPHERYS
