Melanie & Elliot 2012

Dear Humpherys Family-
I really had to think hard what has happened to us this past year.
I quit my job at Great Clips to stay home with the girls in May. It was a learning experience to juggle mommyhood and being a working mom. I was released as the First Counselor in the Primary Presidency in October and was called to be the Primary President. I'm learning a lot and its quite the humbling experience to be in charge of the Primary.  Elliot is still the financial clerk in his church calling. He traveled to Canada again to visit his brother with his dad, they drove 20 some odd hours to get there.  We went to Arizona for Spring break and helped Elliot's grandparents out. We also came back to Arizona for our annual Lake Powell Trip in August. We went jet skiing and spent a lot of time with family. The girls loved the water and playing in the sand.  Elliot and I went backpacking with my mom's side of the family in the Uinta's. It was strange to be away from my kids for four days but I knew they were in good hands with my mom watching them (thanks again MOM!).  We hiked a lot, fished, and ate yummy backpacking food. We were so sad to see Stephanie and her family leave in June for Indiana but we can't wait to see them in March.

Josie started Kindergarten in September and it was very traumatizing for her. I didn't think she would have had such a hard time because she went to 2 years of preschool. I guess I forgot that she has a hard time with new things and change.  She has gotten use to it now and really enjoys it.  She is learning how to read sight words, she loves math and she's really good at it too. She loves to play with her friends and this past April she learned how to ride a bike without training wheels. She's very sweet and a very good older sister to Carly. She's the peace maker in our family. She has loss a total of 3 teeth this year and has 3 more that are wiggly.
Carly has grown up too fast. She just turned 3 but talks like a 5 year old. She is so feisty, energetic and she loves to dance. She just feels the rhythm, its pretty entertaining. The other day we were watching a movie and she stands up and says, " I feel the beat!" and starts dancing. HA! She always makes us laugh. She just got into Sunbeams and its really hard for her to sit still but she's trying.

We were so sad to have our wonderful uncle Robert pass away.  I still can't believe he's really gone but I know that we will see him again. Love you Uncle Robert.

It has been an eventful year and we are so excited for 2013 to be even better.
Love,

Melanie, Elliot, Josie and Carly Decker
