Newsletter TIme! 2012
Can’t believe it’s that time again. Thanks Ryan! The hardest part is getting everyone’s newsletters. (Uncle Newell is going to have to make some newsletter threats! Ha!)
Isaac turned 2 this year! What a busy, happy, little, “big” guy! He’s often mistaken as a 3 year old because he is so tall! He loves kicking balls, playing with his sisters, and playing with cars. During the summer his favorite thing to do was run through the sprinklers! Now that it is winter, he coaxes us to chase him while he tries to hide into any closet or tight space! He has also discovered the snow and slide down the hills we have made in our front yard from all of the snow! We also love his contagious laugh when the tickle monster comes to visit!
Paige just turned 6 and is in Kindergarten! She has lost the most teeth in her class! She is in dance, tumbling and loves to score goals in soccer! She plays so well with her younger brother when Allison is at school. Paige loves to share and is always thinking of others. I’m so happy that she enjoys helping around the house. (Hope it lasts!) I should add she likes to “organize” and I found her outside in the freezing garage trying to pair up all of the shoes! Paige has been learning to swim more and loves every minute of it. I can also find her trying to take pictures with my phone and wants us to videotape her new dance moves!
Allison is 9 and had the best birthday present ever... getting her ears pierced! She started the swim team this year and has already earned ribbons at her swim meets! She is still playing soccer and is playing the piano. She loves learning about current events at school and is enjoying reading mystery books. This summer she did another triathlon and took first place! Her favorite part of the summer was her play, where she was an “Egyptian Slave”. She also did basketball this year where she gets to put her height to good use! I bribed her with a fancy cake (since she loves Cake Boss) if she had 10 rebounds. She then asked “mom, what is a rebound?” We have a long ways to go! It’s been fun being the assistant coach at her practices!
Lisa is still directing Stake sports (basketball and volleyball) at church. She teaches a fitness class once and week and plays the piano in Relief Society on Sundays. She did 5 races this summer and one more with Jim this winter at a cold 5 degrees outside. She took 1st place in one of her triathlons in her division! Lisa still works one 12 hour night shift a week at the hospital she had been at for 8 1/2 years. She loves watching her girls play sports and dance, assisting with coaching Allison’s basketball team, playing games with Isaac....and following her husband to all of his races! She had a lot of fun backpacking and camping this summer with Dad, Ryan and Allison.
Jim did his first ironman this year. What an accomplishment after starting triathlons 3 years ago! 11 hours 39 minutes was his time! He placed in the top 1/3 of his age group! Way to go Jim! He had broken his collar bone in April and had a long recovery. He was able to do 1 half ironman and 1 other triathlon this year after his injury. He also loves watching his girls play sports and dance. Jim has a lot of fun running around with Isaac and giving him rides on his back. Jim enjoys being involved with the Young Men program at church.
We were able to take fun vacations to see family and friends this year. In June, we were able to drive to Oregon for Jim’s grandma’s 80th birthday party. We were able to see old friends and show Allison where she was born! The week of Thanksgiving we were in warm Arizona visiting family and friends. Oh, and, Jim thought while he was there he would for fun, swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles and finish it off with a 26.2 mile run. “Jim you are an Ironman!” Good job finishing your first ironman! We were able to visit the Grand Canyon. What a picturesque sight to see! Lisa and Allison were able to go on 2 backpacking trips where Allison fell in love with the outdoors and received her first fishing pole from grandpa. We had our 3rd annual Ray Humpherys reunion in central Utah where we had all 20 or 21 of us there, I’ve lost count! We were able to visit the Manti temple and play a lot of games. In June we also went camping in Grandpa Ray and Grandma Becky’s “reunion rover” AKA home on wheels in northern Utah.
It was fun seeing everyone even though it was on unfortunate terms this summer in Star Valley. Our love goes out to Marisella, and family. We are looking forward to seeing everyone this summer once again. Thanks for keeping the tradition alive! Love from Utah!
Jim, Lisa, Allison, Paige, Isaac
