Newsletter 2014 Humpherys Family!
Hello Humpherys family,
It’s fun to look back at another year in our family. 2014 was a fun and busy year as it usually is. Starting in January, Allison played basketball even though I love it more than her. Her heart is a natural born swimmer and she is very talented in doing so. Paige continued dancing her favorite dances and shaking her hips!
February and March Allison competed in swim meets and made it to state where she did well in her age group of the 10 year olds! She also had another beautiful piano recital. Isaac went on field trips with his private preschool for autistic children. He has progressed leaps and bounds in all areas of developmental milestones. Lisa participated in church and region basketball with her ward. They lost at the buzzer to make it to the finals. Boo. Jim went to Real Salt Lake soccer games and started training for his upcoming 2nd full ironman in Coeur d’Alene Idaho. Spring soccer continued for both Allison and Paige. Rain or shine, the girls kept playing!
April and May Paige had her dance recital and Lisa kept busy being Young Women’s president and getting ready for her first 50 mile supported ride in Lewiston Idaho with her team from her gym. We also took a trip down to St. George for another half ironman race for Jim. We were able to visit with Carol and Blair and Aunt NaDean. We were able to see Carol’s new beautiful house and have a nice dinner with them.
June was the month of Lisa’s bike ride and that was one of the highlights of fun and feelings of accomplishment for the entire year. Mom, dad, Ryan and Natalie, and my family came to watch and take pictures! Jim finished his 2nd full ironman in the beautiful mountains of Coeur d’Alene where the entire family took a family vacation and supported him in completing and finishing in exceptional time! Paige also started piano lessons.
July was our annual Humpherys reunion in the beautiful area of Garden city, Idaho (Bear Lake). We had fun planning this event, visiting, playing, and enjoyed seeing our cousins and family once again! While we were at Bear Lake, Allison was once again competed in state for swimming. She came back with a 1st place finish in the breast stroke and a 3rd place finish in back stroke! Great job state champion Allison! Shortly after that, Allison and Brooklyn left with grandpa on a 4 day backpacking trip with aunt Michelle and other relatives on grandma’s side. Stephanie came and visited us for the week and it was fun to see her again! Melanie also planned a reunion for the Ray Humpherys family in South Jordan. We had fun playing games and having almost everyone there! Thanks Melanie! The last week of July Lisa took all the young women up to Heber Valley camp and had a fun week of girls camp. Her clogging skills may or may not have had a guest appearance after 25 years. She also lead the group of 30 on a 5 mile hike around the beautiful lake and mountains of Heber.
August Lisa competed in another triathlon in the new developed lake in Herriman, Utah. Wasn’t her best times but had fun completing and training for that triathlon. Grandpa, grandma, Lisa and all 3 kids took another adventure in the cruising mobile, AKA grandpa’s motorhome in American Fork canyon for 3 days. It was a nice way to relax, no electronics and the beautiful sound of water and birds were heard.
September and October school was back in session. Soccer was in full swing for all three kiddos. Isaac tried to stay focused on his special Ed soccer team but did find ways to put the cones on his wrists, “Play possum” on the ground, try to hide, and run for the playground instead of the soccer field. It was quite the adventure. At the completion of soccer season, we took a vacation to Park City, Utah. What a picturesque place to relax. Grandpa, and grandma were able to come up for the end of the week. We were able to ride the alpine slide, go hiking, take the trolley around the city, mine for gold and swim in the pools.
November and December Paige made the swim team. She introduced herself as “I’m Paige. I’m Allison’s sister and I’m here to beat all of her records!” That was the highlight of that week! The rest of the year we were getting ready for Christmas, spending time with family, continuing our same jobs, basically nothing new. Jim is still at his engineering company and Lisa still working as a RN at the hospital in Ogden working nights once a week on the ICU step-down unit.
(Not sure if we will make it to the reunion this year. It’s the same week as girls camp this year) We hope to see everyone soon though! Looking forward to reading everyone’s newsletters! Thank you Melanie for putting it together!
