Memories Of The Year 2016
From The Humpherys Family
February 24, 2017
Nevada City, California

Thank you Kim and Mandy for this year’s Humpherys Herald Family Newsletter!  Thank you for having us send in old pictures.  I dug up all the old pictures I could find and we are looking forward to seeing all the pictures everyone sends in for the newsletter.

Here are some memories from 2016--
On Thursday, March 24, Damien, Mom and I left at 6:15 AM and headed for Henderson, Nevada, which would be our first family stop to visit Kelly and Sandra and see where they live.  We arrived at about 4:30 PM.  Tanner and Teesha came over and visited, and then we all headed for a buffet at a Casino.  It was nice food and we had a nice visit.  Then we headed for Nadean's new home in Washington, Utah, near St. George. She has a very nice home. We arrived at about 10:30 PM.  Camille had already arrived at Nadean's about an hour earlier from South Jordan, Utah.  We had a nice visit, and then, the next morning Damien, Camille, Mom, and I headed for Zion's National Park, about 40 minutes from Nadean's.  It was Damien, Mom, and I first time there.  The four of us caught a shuttle bus to the trail head of Angels Landing, and we hiked two miles up and two miles back.  The views were incredible. Newell was out of shape and barely made it up and back.  Then we headed for Nadean's home, where she had and amazing lasagna dinner with green salad, and jello salad waiting for us.  Then, we all headed over to Carol and Blair's new home, about 15 minutes away.  They have a beautiful home, also.  We had a very nice visit, then came back to Nadean's home.  The next morning, Saturday, we headed to UTV Adventure Tours, where we rode 4 wheeler Razor's up and down steep rocks, and up and down steep sand dunes.  This was a blast and a lot of fun for 2 hours.  Then Mom and I followed Damien and Camille in her car back to South Jordan, where we arrived about 5:45 PM.  Camille showed us her new Harley Davidson motorcycle.  I rode it quite a bit alone, and then I took Mom for a ride and also Damien for a ride.  It was a lot of fun.  Wow, that motorcycle has a lot of power!
Damien stayed the night with Camille Saturday night, and Mom and I stayed overnight with Ray and Becky.  Then, the next morning, Sunday, Mom and I followed Camille, Lance and Damien, in Lance's car from South Jordan, to Spanish Fork, where we attended Scott and Meretta's missionary farewell and Easter Sunday program.  They gave great talks, and there were some amazing musical numbers.  Then we all headed around the block to Scott and Meretta's home for a big Easter feast.  We got acquainted with most of Lance's siblings and their spouses.  Lance has a wonderful family.  I hope Camille marries into that wonderful family.  I think Lance is an amazing man, also.
Then, we headed back to Ray and Becky's home, where another amazing dinner was waiting for us.  After dinner, and a nice visit, Lance had to head back to Pocatello, to be back to work at 5:00 AM Monday morning.  Mom, Damien, and I left Monday morning at about 8:00 AM for California.  It was blowing, raining, and snowing almost the entire trip.  We arrived home at about 5:30 PM, quite exhausted.  All in all, it was a wonderful trip.
(2016) THE NEWELL AND SALLY HUMPHERYS 12THANNUAL FAMILY REUNION CONSISTED OF ALL GETTING TOGETHER FOUR TIMES DURING THE YEAR In-- Bear Lake, Idaho, Pocatello, Idaho,  Salt Lake City, Utah, and Nevada City, California
In July we all met at a vacation rental next to my cousin Clark Stock’s home in Fish Haven, Idaho on the shores of Bear Lake.
We all had a wonderful time on the Jet Ski’s. We also went shooting up Fish Haven Canyon with C.J.  That was a lot of fun.  The beach was just 100 yards or so from our rental house.  We played games, had lots of good food and fun together.  This trip consisted of Mom, Damien and I, Camille and Lance, C.J, Laurie, Mercy, Porter, Jameson, and Quinn.  Jim and Stacy, and Katie and Ty also came the last day.  Then we all headed to Pocatello, but we first stopped in Paris Idaho, and spent time at the Paris Tabernacle and learned about our Great Grandfather Charles C. Rich. Then, on to Pocatello, where Florence and Larry hosted a very nice reunion at the Park in Pocatello where there was great food, swimming and visiting.
Friday Morning, September 30th, 2016 was a very special day.  Camille Humpherys and Lance Adams were married in the Salt Lake Temple.  Then we had a nice Luncheon at a nearby LDS Chapel that went very nice except for the Fire Alarms going off.  The delicious lunch, slide show, and comments about Camille and Lance made up for the alarms going off.  Thanks to Elliott for saving the day and finding a way to turn the alarms off.  Then that night, there was an amazing reception at the Old Meeting House.  Camille and Lance sang together and danced together. Delicious crepes and food and drinks and music and dancing.   It was a great evening with great support from all the Humpherys and Adams relatives and friends in the Utah and Idaho area.
Christmas, 2016, we were all together again here in Nevada City.  We went to the Nevada Theatre together and saw “Scrooge”.  What made Christmas even more special this year is that Uncle Ken and Aunt Myrna were here to spend it with us.  We had our tradition of Fondue on Christmas Eve.  We also had our annual tradition of Gingerbread House Decorating Competitions.
Damien is playing Varsity Volleyball this year. He also played club volleyball.   Damien still loves mountain biking and he is going to be 18 on March 11!! Damien is planning to go on a mission for two years.  He hopes to leave in August, so he can attend one more family reunion first. Newell is now serving as the Young Men President and enjoys spending even more time with Damien before he graduates from High School. Sally still teaches part time for the High School District.   She is an awesome teacher, and goes the extra mile with each student.  She also spends hours keeping Newell and Damien on the right track! Sally also sings in a Country Rock band, is still the Stake Music Chairman and sings in Music In The Mountains, just to list a few. We are so grateful to have a family.  We love each and every one of you and look forward to reading all of your news.  The year 2016 was filled with blessings and trials. Each year keeps flying by.  We are grateful for all our blessings.  We hope to see each of you soon, “if the Good Lord is willing, and the creek doesn’t rise”  perhaps at the next reunion in good ole Etna, Wyoming!!!!!!!!!!!!
WITH LOVE FROM NEWELL,SALLY, AND DAMIEN HUMPHERYS
