From The Humpherys Family

Thank you Nicole and Shane for your willingness to be in charge of the Humpherys Herald Family Newsletter this year!
Here are some fun memories we had together in our family—In April, Newell, Sally, Camille, Trevor, and Damien spent a week in Cancun. It was a lot of fun. We visited underground water caves, snorkeled, enjoyed shopping in Playa Del Carmen, enjoyed the beach, and also enjoyed the all you can eat meals all day long (like on a cruise ship) . About every type of food you can think of was available at the restaurants.
Our first stop on our Cancun Vacation, was Chichen Itza Ruins(Yukatan, Mexico) for two nights, which was about a two hour drive from the airport in Cancun. The Ruins were awesome there. We stayed at the MayaLand Hotel, which was right next door to the Ruins of Chichen Itza.
We then stopped to see the ruins of Ekbalam on the way from Chichen Itza to Sandos Caracol Resort, where we spent the rest of the week. Camille, Trevor, and Damien went snorkeling on a guided boat tour in the ocean. Sally and I stayed behind, fearing we would get seasick on that boat. But the three of them said it was a lot of fun. Sandos is about a 45 minute drive from the Airport.
Camille, this past year has been working several jobs—personal trainer, working at Sundance Ski Resort, and Heritage in Orem. She came home once a month for about six months in a row. We were so thrilled to have her home so often, but I think she got tired of the long drive from Utah to California. On one of those trips, she came for Mothers Day and surprised us all. We wish we could live closer to Camille and C.J and Laurie and the grandchildren.
In June, the four of us drove to Disneyland. Camille flew there from Utah. C.J. and Laurie and family drove there from Arizona. We all stayed at the same Hotel, enjoyed Disneyland, and the beach for two or three days together. That was a fun memory. We really enjoyed the grandchildren, Mercy, Porter, and Jameson. They are so much fun!
C.J. still works for the Border Patrol in Naco, Arizona. Recently, there was a special TV series on National Geographic about the Border Patrol agents and what they do in Arizona. It was very interesting, but it made us a little nervous. He says he loves his job. We pray for C.J. and Laurie and their family and for Camille every day.
Trevor is in the 7th Grade at Seven HillsSchool, and Damien is in the 5th Grade, also at Deer Creek School. Trevor was the quarterback for his 7th grade football team. He is quite a good passer. He is now the starting point guard for his 7th grade basketball team. Last week, his team was behind by 3 with only seconds to play. His coach, (Brian Ellis) called time out and called a play for Trevor to shoot a 3 pointer, which he did, and made, and sent the game into overtime. Unfortunately, his team lost by one, but it was an exciting game to watch. Trevor’s best game scoring was 23 points so far.
Damien plays basketball in a 6th grade league, and his Dad is his coach. He also played baseball and soccer this year and he is getting better at both sports. Damien is really good on computers and is doing really well in his classes.
Damien still plays the guitar, and Trevor likes to play the recorder.
Camille, Trevor, Damien, Sally and Newell ran in the 5K run at the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot race, in which nearly 2000 people competed. It was good exercise.
Newell still enjoys being the Public Address Announcer for the Nevada Union Boys Varsity Basketball games. He is teaching early morning Seminary again this year. This is his 12th or 13th year teaching Seminary. This year, the subject is The Book of Mormon.
Sally still teaches part time for the High School District. She also takes Trevor and Damien snowboarding, running, and hiking as often as possible. Sally enjoys her calling as Ward Choir Director. Sally has a new calling working with the young women to help them with their personal progress. Sally still ski’s occasionally when she takes Damien and Trevor. Also, Sally still runs 3-4 times per week about 5 miles per session.
In October for school break, Sally, Trevor and Damien went to Fort Bragg, California, and enjoyed the beach for 3 or 4 days, while Newell stayed home and worked.
Each year seems to go so fast. We are very grateful for each and every blessing we have been given from our Father in Heaven.
We are thankful to be a part of a bigger extended family and we pray for God’s blessings to be with each and every one of you. We are so thankful for family reunions, which gives us a chance to keep in touch with each other. We are also thankful to have an annual family newsletter to read about what everyone is doing in their lives.
We are looking forward to another great reunion this summer at the beautiful Greys River! We are looking forward to seeing all the new nieces and nephews, and the new cousins!! I’m sure Grandpa Dean and Grandma Neva continue to be very proud of how the Humpherys family continues to grow!!
WITH LOVE FROM NEWELL,SALLY, TREVOR, AND DAMIEN HUMPHERYS
