Well Ben got a job at a place called Intermountain Wood Products at the start of the year doing sales/ front desk work. We were so thankful for that job because it’s so hard to be unemployed for so long. We moved near downtown Salt Lake in a little apartment and we have really liked it. There are so many different nationalities that live around us and in our ward as well. We have had people over for dinner from Bolivia, Serbia, Philippines, Tonga, Mexico, Australia, etc. We’ve learned so much about each culture, it’s been so much fun. Ben and I hope to serve many missions together when we’re older and spread the gospel to many nations. Who knows, some day they may open China to the church, we can only hope. Thanks to all of you for being so welcoming to “Jimmy” our little Chinese Foreign Exchange student. He said he had a great time…well, we think he said that…. We weren’t sure what he said most of the time.
It’s been so much fun watching our little Jasmine grow up right before our eyes. She is such a smiley little girl with such a cute personality. Sometimes she’ll just sit in a corner and look at books, examining each page and then slowly turn the page. She is walking around the house so fast now and Brayden and Jasmine love to play together. Brayden is still too rough with her which is a constant battle to deal with but hopefully he’ll learn soon. It is so cute though, every time she wakes up from a nap he gets so excited and says “Mama, baby woke up.” And I tell him to go in to her room and say hi to her. He happily does it every time. He’s doing so well potty training right now, we’re so proud of our little guy.
It was around July when Ben’s work had to lay off a handful of people. It was a blessing in disguise though. His boss was not a good person to work for or be around. Also it enabled him to launch his internet graphing calculator business he’s been wanting to do for a long time. It’s www.mycalcrental.com. So Ben and I switched roles for about 6 months because I got a job as a teacher at a beauty school so it was great to use both of my degrees. It was fun and I learned a lot but Ben continued to look for a job and just landed a great one at a company called Fidelity Investments. So I quit my job to stay home with the kids which just feels better.
Before Christmas we did a trip to Vegas and Arizona to see grandparents and my mission. Thanks to Kelly and the fam for letting us stay a night. You guys really saw a lot of us Ray Humpherys girls lately huh? Ben just got called to the 2nd counselor in the bishopric and I’m in the primary presidency and so we’re busy. Brayden is in Sunbeams now and Jasmine will be in nursery this summer, man they’re growing fast. We are currently looking for a bigger place to live, so we’ll see what we can find. It’s been a lot of fun keeping in contact with everyone through face book and seeing everyone’s pictures. What a great way to hear what’s going on with everyone.
We love you all so very much and are really excited to see you all and the reunion in California!
Love, Ben, Michelle, Brayden and Jasmine Burnett
