CJ & Laurie 2013

Hi everyone,

It was great to see so many of you at the family reunion in August. Porter and Mercy had a great time with all the cousins, despite Mercy spraining her ankle. Laurie, Jameson and Quinn couldn't make it since Jamie had just started kindergarten, but we're hoping to all make it this year. Mercy won't be very pleased with us if we don't make it, she loves her cousins and the "19 girls" club they had going! Our other vacation for the year was at the end of school we all went to the Dove Mountain Ritz-Carlton, outside of Tucson. We had a blast swimming and just enjoying our time doing anything we felt like doing. Despite Quinn stepping on a bee and then grabbing a cactus it was actually a lot of fun!

CJ and Laurie - still teaching the 14-15 year olds in church. Still enjoying it, for the most part. CJ is back on the mountain team again at work and is thoroughly enjoying his work, hiking all over Fort Huachuca and the Huachuca Mountains. His team has caught over 700 people in the six months that the team has been working together. Laurie spends her time taking care of her friend's 10 month old son while she is at work and also spending time helping out at the elementary school and the PTO there.

Mercy - 9 years old, going on nineteen. She made the math team this fall and got to represent her school in a competition in Tucson, we're not really sure where she gets those math whiz genes from but we're not complaining! She has straight A's and has been on the high honor roll all year. Mercy's still in ballet and was a butterfly in The Nutcracker this December. She was also a mouse, but she hated that part and won't tell you about it unless you pester her. She started taking art class this fall and has really enjoyed it, we're running out of wall space for her work.

Porter - 8 years old, he was baptized when we went to California to visit Sally and Newell for Christmas, that made it even more special for him. He is a good student who is doing well, but would much rather spend his time running around a soccer field than sit in a classroom. He participated in a British soccer camp this summer and really improved his skills as well as his confidence. He's playing soccer year round, but recently took up the great Humpherys tradition of playing basketball. He was a little leery of it at first but has discovered he's pretty good at it, so he enjoys it much more than he thought he would. Porter also started Scouts and won first place in his pack's pinewood derby (with a little help from dad).

Jameson - 6 years old, he started kindergarten! He's doing really well and already reads at a second grade level, but still gets distracted easily. He played soccer for the first time this fall and had a blast, it helped that his best friend was on his team. He really wants to play tackle football but he has to wait another year until he turns 7 to play, so he'll be in soccer for another year. Jameson loves playing Minecraft, he searches YouTube for tutorials on playing and then goes and masters it, we can't believe how he figures all this out.

Quinn - almost 3 years old, and wishes she was in school like her brothers and sister. She's still in love with Princess Sofia but thanks to big sister has discovered Ever After High and loves the dolls. She thinks she's older than she is, she gets frustrated with girls her age who don't know how to play like "big kids". She's also a walking fashion show and changes her outfits at least three times a day. Quinn will start preschool this fall and is really excited, Laurie's friend is the preschool teacher and so Quinn gets very excited to see "Miss Lori" in church every week.

We love and miss everyone!

CJ, Laurie, Mercy, Porter, Jameson and Quinn
