Greetings Humpherys Clan,
The Spear Family was very blessed this year and we continue to enjoy living in Indianapolis. Drew graduated from law school in May, passed the bar exam in September, and opened his own law practice, Spear Legal Services, in October. He enjoys working for himself and putting his Spanish language skills to use as often as possible. At the moment, his practice areas include: immigration, small business, family, estate planning, and other types of civil law. He enjoys helping his clients get their issues resolved and is excited for what the future holds.
For Stephanie, 2015 flew by very fast because she was hugely pregnant until April where she gave birth to Sadie. We were so fortunate to have Becky and Melanie and her son Wesley fly out and come help for ten days. Lisa flew in a few weeks later and was a godsend by helping take care of Stephanie and the kids. The next several months were spent keeping four kids busy in the summertime while Drew was studying all day every day. We were then blessed to be able to fly to Utah in October and surprise our family and spend two splendid weeks together. Then the holidays came and we had fun renting a cabin in the woods for Christmas and enjoyed hanging out with the kids and Drew’s brother Carter. Stephanie has a really great support system in our ward and the ladies in Relief Society are all practically her sisters. They have fun hanging out at book club, girls night out, and any other reason they can think of to get together.
It seems like yesterday that we welcomed Brooklyn into our family. This year she turned 12 and currently serves as class president of her young women’s class. She received a 4.0 GPA for the past semester and is really thriving in middle school. She sings in a choir, is learning to play the violin, and is becoming a very trustworthy and responsible babysitter for us and other family friends. She also secretly hopes to become a mermaid someday!
Riley was baptized on August 8th and we had the privilege of having Grandpa Ray and Aunt Michelle fly out and attend the baptism. Riley loves playing soccer and is about to enter her fifth season. She is excelling in school and even won the 3rd grade Spelling Bee this year! Her only problem is that she has been given the gift of gab from her mom, so that gets her into trouble sometimes. She loves to do gymnastics inside the house and draw and make many original creations with her words and art.
Stockton is our little buddy and he is so fun to hang out with. He loves to create things with his legos and he loves to color with markers. He has learned all his ABC’s and he just became a Sunbeam at church and is so adorable when he sings church songs. He is a great example to our family because he always wants to pray and says the sweetest heartfelt prayers. He and Drew have plans to go camping and work on his jump shot this Summer when the weather gets nice again.
The greatest blessing our family received this year was the arrival of baby Sadie. She was born on April 23rd and captured our hearts immediately. She is a very spunky and independent girl who has always been a mover and keeps us on our toes. She has a cheesy grin and loves playing with her siblings. She loves music, especially TV theme songs and is just a joy to be around. She loves looking at pictures of her family and has already started taking her first few steps.
